January 16th: Galaxy Minstrels

Kcal 215

These came in a convenient 42g bag.

Galaxy chocolate is amongst my favourite and generally I like most Galaxy products. These however I must say were disappointing though.

The taste seemed to pass me by and the sugary shells seemed to overly dominate the creamy flavours of the chocolate meaning that the usual Galaxy experience wasn't really delivered.

Overall there is no doubting the credentials of Galaxy chocolate, but the chocolate flavour hit just simply wasn't strong enough here. Nutritionally they aren't bad but there are better lighter options out there. These were a forgettable offering that did little in terms of impact in the search for the worlds best chocolate. Galaxy chocolate just really isn't suited to being sugar coated.

Seriously Galaxy Minstrels are fantastic! I'm almost able to travel from France just to buy some, and I never miss a chance each time I stop by a UK airport, even if I have to miss my plane!!!

Too bad they don't sell them over here :-( They would be a huge hit!

FJ Sorry to hear about their lack of availability! For me the sugary shells just ruin the inner goodness of the Galaxy chocolate!

Maybe you should have a look online to see if you could bulk order some!?

I have to agree that the suagry shells do nothing for me, ratehr like the Cadbury Shots. its a shame as I think they could be really nice. Funny though that I like Smarties!

cheers

Yes buying online is the way to go!

One thing I wanted to add, I think the Minstrels take another dimension if you just let them melt on your tongue (honestly, try!) - if you bite them yes they are probably too sweet, but when they melt they are too good!

Thanks Jim for your great reviews, I just found your blog and I'm addicted now!

Alan Yeah its funny isn't it! I am a huge fan of Smarties as well! One chocolate I would love to see come back are those Nestle Vice Versa!!

Frenchy Thanks for the praise I look forward to your input further in the future :)

I really like minstrels. I think the crispy shell has a nice texture, and when it breaks, the melt inside is just heaven.

How have I not had these till now? They must not be popular cause they're on 1/2 price reduction and still 5 months in date, but they're a big hit with me. Even if they're colored with burnt veggies, aka 'vegetable carbon'.
