Thought of another one, Bendicks Bittermints... always been curious about them. I've tried their white chocolate mints once and they were lovely.
Their site: http://www.bendicks.co.uk/index.php?modul=b110
David
In a word YES!
Phil
Nice suggestion looks mint ;) consider me on the case
Thanks both
Jim
Hey Jim
The Bendicks choclate bars are very nice aswell, they come in not one big slab but 5 small bars in the box which I think is rather nice an quite useful! Well worth a look! :)
Alan
I will send them a mail and see what they say! The presentation sounds awesome!
Thanks
Jim
Have you managed to get your hands on the Zotter Ketchup and Peanut bar? I recommend it!
Oh, and obviously the Ritter Sport Olympia. It's out next week and my parents are all geared up and ready to send a massive parcel my way :)
Susanne
Noted - still to track them both down but believe me I am keen! Great suggestions thanks.
Jim
Hey Jim
you may be interested to hear about Anthony Berg - you've probably heard of the company but as you can see in the link they also specialise to some extent in marzipan chocolates! On this site they also seem to stock some more very interesting sounding chocs by them aswell. I recently spotted 3 bars of dark chocolate by the comapny each using different beans. It may be worth a look as they seem to do a masive selection of stuff :)
heres the link :
http://www.finefoodstore.co.uk/page1/14_50/
sorry that should read ANTHON berg not anthony lol
Alan
Taken a look at the link they look yummy. Not sure I can prioritise them for the minute but I would like to give them a try at some point.
Once again another nice find! Added to the list!
Thanks
Jim
Hey Jim
glad you liked the look of them, I thought you would lol- heres their own proper website, it has a very interesting history! it's what I was trying to find as the link earlier lol but never mind :
http://www.toms.dk/Default.aspx?ID=3236
Hey Jim, it's be great to see a review of one of these products:
http://www.johnstonesbakers.co.uk/main_products/rum_raisin_shortcake.html
All of their products look divine! Maybe they'd send you some free samples if you contact them.
Alan
Thanks I will take a look now.
Phil
Granted some of their products look divine. I will give them a mail when I have a chance! Consider them on the list!
Cheers both
Jim
Hey Jim just had to tell you I found a Cadbury version of Caramac called Caramilk, if you scroll down on this page you'll see it. It's 'Caramel white chocolate' apparently.
http://www.fastmoving.co.za/fmcg-suppliers/food-beverage/cadbury/cadbury-chocolate/cadbury-chocolate
Would be great if you could get hold of one to review! If you browse through the other sections you'll see things like dairy milk coconut ice, dairy milk with brownie, Flake orange...etc!
Phil
Cheers for the link pal there are some nice suggestions on there.
I will have to take a loook through and note some down to try. If you search Carramilk on this site you should get sent in the direction of the Canada's Cadbury Caramel bar.
I have recently just been tucking into that Cadbury Coconut Ice bar .. review appearing shortly!
Cheers again!
Jim
Get hold of & review the Rolo chocolate bar. Yes BAR! A chocolate bar, not an ice cream or cookie variation. It did exist it did it did!!!!It did! Restore my faith in human/sanity by finding & devouring it. It is my dying wish....
Anon
Funniest request yet ... :D :D looks like I am going to have to do a spot of googling to check this actually still is around. I have never heard of it myself.
Thanks
Jim
Found a pic of it here:
http://www.jakehowlett.com/tuckshop/wrappers/chocolate/filled/rolo-bar.jpg
Nestle also once did a Munchies bar which I loved:
http://www.jakehowlett.com/tuckshop/wrappers/chocolate/filled/munchies-bar.jpg
Phil
Nice find detective :) thanks for doing that.
Do you have an idea when these bars were around. I think we can safely say they are long gone.
Thanks
Jim
I'd say the Munchies bar was around just under 10 years ago...not sure about the Rolo one as I never saw that myself. It may still be produced by Nestle in some other country. If you look on that same site he's got wrappers for orange Drifter and mint Drifter, which I vaguely remember. I'm sure they once did a coffee flavour also.
I've turned into a chocolate anorak lol!
Phil
Oh dear - looks like I am going to have to search abroad to fulfil this request.
Come on Phil look on the brightside ... this knowledge will come in massive use for us when ....uh....oh :D :D
Thanks for sharing the knowledge! Nice find with the site.
Jim
Hi Jim
Maybe a bit of a long shot on this one, but could you add L'Artisan du Chocolat's salted caramels to your list (http://tinyurl.com/2pejjk)? I've never had salted caramels and I'd love to hear what you think of them.
Cheers! M
PS still chuckling about Phil's chocolate anorak... wouldn't be much use on a hot day... ;)
Miggins
I would love to try them! They look awesome - right up my street! I will try get hold of some and in the meantime add them to my list!
Thanks - if you have anymore requests be sure to add them!
Jim
Jim, see if you can get hold of some of their sugar free chocolate as well. I know you were thoroughly underwhelmed by past experiences with such chocolate, but the L'Artisan stuff is utterly wonderful. Look forward to a review sometime!
M
Miggins
No problem chap sounds good! Will give you an update when I have one.
Cheers
Jim
Hi Jim,
See if you can get hold of some Booja Booja assorted chocolates. The midnight expresso ones are divine. The others are a bit variable but I'd love to know what you make of them!

"Ultimate Marzipan - Sweet Obsessions" from Hotel Chocolat if you can pls :)
Hey Jim, I saw in Morrisons today they had all the Christmas goods in *groan*. They had white chocolate coated Oreos. They're 2 oreos with a cream filling covered in white choc. A bit pricey at £3.50 per box but maybe they'll reduce them closer to Christmas...would be great to see a review. They also had some Lindt product which I didn't inspect closely, all I remember was they had 'hot' fillings such as chilli and black pepper.
Also I see that Cadbury are bringing out Caramel Nibbles:
"Caramel Nibbles (rsp: £1.79) are small buttons of Dairy Milk chocolate filled with smooth caramel, and are available from major retailers now. They will line up alongside the rest of the Bitesize range, which hit shelves in April, and come in 175g resealable bags to tap the sharing trend."
http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=articles&ID=203327
and Kraft are bringing out Milka with Daim:
"A Daim and Milka combined chocolate bar, Milka Daim (rsp: £tbc) and a limited-edition duo-sized version of the traditional Daim bar"
http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=articles&ID=203335
I'd be interested to hear your opinion on the Camaya bars. I've tried four to date (basil & lime, cashew & sesame, strawberry and mango & cardamom) and think very highly of them. I'll definitely try the rest of the range, and I'd love to try their truffles sometime. I think they're very reasonably priced for the quality they offer. Have a look at their website: http://www.camaya.co.uk/home/index.shtml
Phil
Just been to Tesco and they have their stuff up as well ... pretty tragic huh!?
Those Oreos sound awesome. I recently just had a new Lindt bar sent to me which involved mango + Chilli! Review will of course come soon.
Caramel Nibbles sounds great ... I will look out for them along with the Snowbites.
As for Milka Daim .... see here http://www.chocolatemission.net/2008/09/october-3rd-milka-daim-bar.html
Thanks for the suggestions - always welcome!
Jim
Update
Found the Cadbury Snowbites and coated Oreos today.
Reviews to appear closer to Xmas time.
Jim
Hey Jim
heres my request for the Cadbury Triple Choc Roll (choc and the mint variety aswell) lol
Cadbury Hazel Nuts in 375 Gram tins. Made for export sometimes seen in Airport shops. In my view the best product of Cadbury's. Love to find a source for these!
Hi Jim,
Any chance to see more of the Cote d'Or products reviewed?
Particulary this range they have - http://www.cotedor-chocolat.fr/cotedor/page?siteid=cotedor-prd&locale=frfr1&PagecRef=849
I just came back from France and they had some pretty interesting flavours available - I would be interested to hear your wise words ;)
How about reviewing a Caramac? Not eaxctly chocolate and certainly not healthy but still!
Hey Jim, not sure where else to put this but today I found 'Nestle Noir Eclat Caramel' in B&M. It's 64% cocoa dark choc with crunchy caramel pieces. I did a quick search and found their Canadian website:
http://www.nestle-noir.ca/
You've got to watch the intro! It's so OTT.
Lily
I reviewed the Caramac a few years ago (it was one of my first reviews ... hence the awful structure and grammar)
See HERE --> http://www.chocolatemission.net/2008/02/february-7th-nestle-caramac.html
Phil
Oh god it is a bit out there isn't it. I am a bit sceptical as to whether they could carry off such a product looking at the proposition.
Neslte don't seem to be able to pull off the premium stuff in my experience.
Let us know what you think of it!
Thanks both
Jim
It's actually quite tasty considering it's Nestle chocolate :) Not upto Lindt's standards though. I wouldn't say it's quite as 'gorgeous' as that into implies lol.
Hey Jim
I've spotted the Caramel Nibbles! Theyre on offer, 2 for £2.50 in my sainsburys local along with the Giant buttons in the same type of bag - I'll definitely get some in the next few days, I'm intrigued! I'm sitll not sure about these large bags, to me the whole range would be better suited to smaller bags like say the Tasters or chocolate buttons, or clusters.
I bought 2 bags of Caramel Nibbles today, I have to say they are fab! They're exactly like the CDM Caramel bars but in little buttoms! Yum!
Hey Jim.
I'm not sure whether this has been mensioned above or not but...
Mars has a new Galaxy product out, seems similar to the Cadbury Nibbles, I think they're called something along the lines of "Galaxy Bites". Not entirely sure, but spotted them at Tesco this week at £2 for a teeny little packet. Maybe a side-by-side comparison of the Cadbury equivalent would be interesting? :)
Alan & Rachel
I have managed to get hold of both the Cadbury Nibbles and Galaxy Pieces ... I will do them as a double side by side review :) hopefully by end of next week!!
Thanks
Jim
Can you review some advent calendars in time for Christmas please. Lots have rubbish 'cake chocolate' not proper choc in them, even the branded ones - your mission is to find a nice one with 'real' chocolate!
Hey Jim
Thorntons have a new european continental selection and a winter desserts gallery that have some really bizzare chocs in = sherry trifle, gingerbread, christmas pudding - given that you have been trying so many odd ones from abroad maybe you should give these a go ;-)
E
I will see what I can do here :) sounds like a sensible request to me!
Helen
They sound awesome! Certainly something I would love to try! I will get on to my Thorntons contact!
Thanks
Jim
These ones: Lindt Swiss Tradition http://www.lindt.co.uk/4442/4657/4667/4684/4683.asp - I've tried the regular ones and the Dark Collection. The Caramel Collection seems to have disappeared from the face of the Earth in the past two weeks. I'd be really curious to know what you think about them. Personally, I liked the dark collection better, even though the actual chocolate from Lindt is never disappointing for me. It might come in disappointing combinations, but the actual chocolate is... Lindt!
Ana
Looks like I am going to have to try get hold of these sooner rather than later if you are having difficulty find them!
I will get on the case now and try and track them down.
Thanks
Jim
Well, whichever you can find to review. I didn't actually mean just the caramel collection, I was thinking more like comparing the collections.
I still hope I'll see the caramel collection on the shelves again soon. In the meanwhile, I got a few other things I want to try, like three muffins (each one a different kind) with chocolate filling and chocolate chips - I should be getting them tomorrow. And I've also seen Lindt Excellence (including my beloved dark bars) really cheap (in pounds, that would be something like 3 of them for a pound) so I want to taste them again.
I see those boxes of Lindt Tradition (the gold box one) all the time on my local supermarket shelf, as it seems to be a permanent fixture rather than a seasonal one, so I imagine they are still around. I've yet to try them though, but I'm curious I have to say lol
Ana
What muffins are thse? Any ones I have tried? I have reviewed quite a few of the Lindt Excellence bars take a look if you have time.
Alan
I will keep a look out for them Alan! I think I saw them in Sainsburys just last week! Cheers for the heads up
Cheers
Jim
Hey Jim
My sister bought a tub of these - GU Naughties Millionaire Flapjack bites - they are gorgeous! :
http://www.gupuds.com/our-puds/nibbles-and-naughties/naughty-millionaires-flapjacks
well worth a look if you can get hold of them (she saw them in sainsburys)
I really don't think so. The muffins are a local brand. One of them was vanilla flavoured with chocolate chips, the second one was cocoa with chocolate chips and the third one was again vanilla flavoured with chocolate filling. They were smaller than I had imagined, but they were really pretty. I liked the fact that they were not dry at all, not even those who only had chocolate chips and no filling. I would have liked the last one to have more of that choco filling, which I found great - in a lot of chocolate fillings you can taste a nutty influence and I don't like that, but this one wasn't like that at all.
I've seen the Lindt Excellence reviews. These bars truly deserve the "Excellence" name. Regarding the Orange Intense: I too find the almond slithers annoying although I love the combination between dark chocolate and orange. However, I've found an alternative :D Lindt Excellence Swiss Thins Orange Intense - these are really thin individual squares in a box, each one having Lindt written all over on one side. I love the smell that comes out when opening the box... and that's a very good thing because it's really, really intense. The best thing is that the almond slithers are missing here. It's just the dark chocolate (52%) and the orange. I like to break each square into four smaller squares and then press each quarter between my tongue and my palate, let it melt there and not move on to the next quarter until it's all gone. It takes me about 18 minutes to eat 10 grams this way :)) I know it because I like to do this while watching cartoons :))
Alan
I was eyeing these up the other day and was wondering if people would like to see them reviewed. You have convinved me that this is the case! I will pick some up at the weekend :)
Ana
Some of those muffins sound divine. I have recently become a big fan of muffins and am looking to try and find more to try for the site at present.
Some of the Lindt Excellence bars are my favourites of all time. Thinking about them now most the Dark bars are fantastic ... so are the orange and mint intense ... as is the Caramel and the chilli ... haha I am probably going to end up naming all of them in a minute.
I really like the sound of those Excellence Thins... I will keep a close eye out for them now and add them to the list.
Great hearing from you as always! Keep the requests coming!
Jim
There are some new Thorntons bars out on limited edition for xmas, I saw them the other day - Winter Crumble and Creme Brulee were the two I saw. Could you try them Jim?
Sounds nice Jay, although knowing Thorntons they probably sound better than they actually are!
Just wondering whether my suggestion a while ago to review some bars from Camaya might have been missed by you as it's not on the list? I recommend the basil and lime one!
http://www.camaya.co.uk/home/index.shtml
Jay
Those sound good. I will try get them off my contacts at Thorntons.
Phil
I hope your not right :)
Susanne
Apologies I will stick it on now. Looking at the site they look like a brand that I would like to get stuck into next year. Another great suggestion by you.
Thanks all - I always value suggestions.
JIM
May I make a suggestion?
I have discovered hidden treasure at tescos (actually my manwhore did but I shall take credit).
Gianduiotto chocolates (basically just gianduja) they are obscenly good. Expensive-ish, but you get loads in a bag so they last ages and you can taste the quality. Made in Italia and everything! They make me quite giddy.
Please give them a try!
Can I add Sainsbury's 'taste the difference' white chocolate as a request? It's one of the nicest ones I've tried so far (though admittedly I haven't yet tried HC's pure white chocolate)
Lottie
I tried looking for these but came up short :( I will take a look in a different Tesco though weekend! It is on the radar missus!
Phil
Indeed you can chap! I will runa feature next year pitting all the major supermarkets chocolates vs one another! Sound like a good idea?
Thanks both!
JIM
Sounds like a fun idea to me Jim :)
Oh by the way, have you found any of those Lindt xmas 'chilli' products to review yet? The name escapes me but I saw them in Morrisons today, from memory they seemed to be some sort of fruit pieces covered in Lindt 70% chocolate, one was a cherry chilli combo and another was an orange one. I'll be getting some I think but they're pricey at £3.99 per small bag.
Phil
Unfortunately not Phil ... I have looked out for them but I haven't found them yet!
I will have a look in my local Whittakers tea shop this weekend - they have a good range of Lindt products! If it falls through to next year so be it ... I will keep my eyes peeled :) Great suggestion again.
Cheers
JIM
Well if not I'll update you on if its any good :)
Sorry to be irritating but I have another Lindt request...it's Lindt dark ginger. I thought you might have already done it but I checked and can't find it. I got one today from Morrisons on offer and it's very tasty, I was surprised as I don't normally like ginger products.
Have you ever tried CeMoi chocolates?
My first experience with one of their products was at the end of this August, when I tried Les Cloches Gourmandes. I liked them all (and I'm not one who usually likes coffee/ cappuccino chocolates), especially the Foret Noire ones... my favourite bells out of the box.
And this week I've bought Les Buches Chocolatieres - pretty box, huh? Though I think the one I'm holding in my hand right now looks even prettier than the picture on their website. They also had Foret Noire chocolates which I were my favourites once again. Along with the other dark chocolates in the box (Tarte Orange).
I think you should give them a try, if you haven't tried them before. If you can find them, of course...
Right now I feel a little sorry I didn't also buy Les Coupelles when I first saw them, as I wondered whether they were worth the price (about 10 pounds in your currency). Les Buches Chocolatieres were the same price, but at least those contained the Foret Noire chocolates which I knew I really like. But now I cannot seem to find Les Coupelles anymore. Unfortunately, CeMoi chocolates aren't something common around here. They just appear from time to time in a French-owned supermarket chain.
UPDATE FOR LOTTIE
I found your Tesco Giandjua things :D review will be up in the new year!
Phil
Don't be silly chap I don't find requests irritating at all .. it just means I am covering things people actually want to see! Please keep them coming.
It is funny you know I actually just checked what bars out of the Lindt Excellence range I have tried and I have missed out on the Coffee and Ginger bars like you say ... how ridiculous considering they are some of my favourite chocolate flavourings!
Review will be up in the new year.
Ana
I can't say I have tried any of them ... actually I have never ecen seen/heard of any of them.
They sound great though - rest assured I will give them a try if I ever do stumble across them.
Thanks for the suggestions.
JIM
Hi,
I love this site. I will miss the daily reviews next year!
I've been waiting for a review of any chocolate by one of my favorite makers, Browne's, (www.brownes.co.uk) but since they haven't made it onto the site yet, may I take the liberty of requesting at least one of these? (all come in 100g size):)
Alcohol-Free Assorted Truffles
Ginger dipped in Chocolate
After Dinner Chocolates - Mint Chasers
Chocolate-dipped Vanilla Fudge
in that order. They are all scrumptiously delicious...although I warn you in advance that the 'chocolate' on the dipped fudge is invisible... thanks a lot!!
Hi, have i missed something, no more daily reviews?! I read this blog ALL the time, love to compare notes on the different choc bars! Seeing as you reviewed the Peanut butter Oh Henry from Canada I really really think u should try the original one, its sooooo yummy, one of my all time favourites and worth getting hold of! :) P.s Think a petition needs to be started to get the Kitkat PB back cuz that is like my fav UK bar, I can't beleive they've replaced it with that caramel thing, bad times.
Nina x
Hey Jim, just wanted to add a little report on the "Lindt creation hot" I mentioned previously. They're in Morrisons reduced to £1.99 at the moment. They're like chocolate raisins but are dried fruit pieces coated in Lindt 70% dark choc. The cranberry & chilli one was very nice but barely tasted of chilli. The orange & pepper one tasted too much like candied peel for my liking. Not worth going out of your way to find but the cranberry one is nice, and it's nice to have something like chocolate raisins with 70% dark choc.
BTW, I was thinking maybe you could add a little section on your site for readers to add their own reviews of products they have found? Just an idea :)
what about reviewing supermarket own brand chocolate? These could either be free standing reviews or comparisons to the branded chocolate that they are copying.
I saw that the Anthon Berg marzipan chocolates that were requested were the discs with strawberry in champagne. That range also has marzipan discs with:
-Plums in Madeira
-Apricot in Brandy
-Cherry in Rum
-Grape in Muscat Wine
-Raspberry in Orange Liqueur
I'd also be interested to know what you think about their small 40g marzipan bars (simple marzipan bar, cognac marzipan bar, nougat marzipan bar) and also about their creamy range (raspberry cream, caramel cream).
To be honest, I have really mixed feelings about Anthon Berg products - they went from some that I loved (the cocktail cream bottles, the marzipan cognac bar, the Dark Velvet Remy Martin Truffles, the liqueur choco bottles, the creamy raspberry) to some which I hated (Remy Martin fudge). I didn't find their fruit & marzipan discs (I only tried the plum in madeira & cherry in rum) that great either, even though everybody else seems to like them.
Sorry it has taken me so long to update this ... so many other things happening at the moment!
Thea
Don't worry the daily reviews haven't stopped for the minute :) I can see the continuing long in to the new year at the rate I am still pumping them out.
Thanks for the Brownes suggestions - I will try my hardest to get hold of some of them! They look awesome.
Nina
I will try get hold of one of the original Oh Henrys! Didn't we tweet about this the other week!?
Phil
Thanks for the update those Lindt things sound great! They are on my look out list chap! I will keep my beady eye looking out for it.
What a great suggestion about the reader reviews! This is something I will seriously looking into when I have a minute! Great thinking.
Emily
Given there are so many formats of own label chocolate I try to normaly keep well clear ... given there is demand though I will make sure I get something together in the next few months.
Ana
Right ... I will make sure I seriosuly do something about this now!
Anthon Berg is a marked man :D I will get something together as soon as possible.
Thanks everyone - again apologies it has taken me so long to update
JIM
Not sure if they are still available or not, but the Thornton's Orange Slices (candied) dipped in dark choclate are lovely! I got some for christmas. They are much better a proposition than those HC Orange Tangs lol
I think they did another fruit too though am not sure.
Might be worth alook if you can still get hold of any :)
Wanted to warn you against a certain Thorntons product Jim. Today I got their 70% Dark collection, and was VERY disappointed. All of the chocolates were just SO BLAND. I don't think there was even one I could say was excellent, all were either just 'ok' or boring. One to definitely avoid! I've had it now with Thorntons and come to the conclusion that only their fudge products and cake bars/caramel shortcakes are worth buying.
Was that a box of chocs Phil? I couldn't find it on the Thornton's site. My sister tried the Milk 'Paris' Collection and enjoyed that (the Dark one is Milan or something) but the ones you are talking about sound a bit different?
How about Cafe Tasse? I cannot see that you have reviewed this brand yet. It comes in a few different varieties and is lovely!
Yeah the one I got was boxed, I think a lot of supermarkets sell them alongside the classic collection. I think it's different to the one you mention. I have to retract what I said earlier - I still intend to try the tonka bean bar at some point.
Jim please can you review a Curly Wurly. I saw GiGis review and she highlighted you hadn't done it already. That is pretty criminal lol.
Oh and a review of the Cadburys caramel rabbits and kit kat rabbits would be welcome.
Lol whats a kitkat rabbit? sounds intriguing!!
Jim has reviewed the Curly Wurly, back in march O8 right at the start of the chocolate mission lol
Alan
I will look into that chap! They sound really nice.
Phil
Warning heeded! I very much doubt I will be reviewing anyting from them in the near future unless they send it to me.
Saying that I have quite a few of their valentines range on the way.
Daisy
I have had a look at their website and their chocolate looks very swanky! I will add it to the list when I get some time. Good suggestion!
JT
Curly Wurly - I will do in the near future. IN the mean time you might want to check out my review of the Curly Wurly Squirlies ... March 19th 2008 I think is where you want to look (thanks alan!)
Caramel Bunnies - will be part of the Easter Superpost for 2009 ... that will come closer to the time! I refuse to start reviewing easter chocolates in January :D
Alan #2
I think he means the normal Kit Kats that come shaped as bunny rabbits. If not though JT please inform me.
Thanks everyone
JIM
Lol im confused :S when you look on march 20th 2008 its got your Curly Wurly review :)
Alan
Blimey I stand corrected! It has come to the point where I have reviewed to much I don't know what I have and haven't done anymore :D
Thanks chap
JIM
hey, i wanted to check what you think of ovomaltine chocolate made by wander in switzerland. dunno how easy it is for you to get a hold of it, maybe i can mail you some.
How about a review of the easter bunnies all the different companies have just sprouted! Cadbury Caramel Bunny versus Kitkat Bunny versus Malteaster ;P
Admin
I have never across them I am afraid - drop me an e-mail if you fancy sending me some for a review.
Emily
I have some Easter Super Post ala last year that I am lining up to do and included in that will of course be both of those products.
I am sorry but I refuse to review Easter products in January :S I find it so ridiculous that we have them in shops already :D
Great suggestion though - look for the super posts in February!
Thanks
JIM
Have you tried the Thorntons Fusions Jim? They are very bizarre, ones with caramel&soy, cranberry&cocoa, balsamic vinegar, orange&cardamon and a few others, 9 in total. I'd love to know what you make of them, you're good at reviewing odd stuff! They were 'an experience', not sure it was a good one mind!
;-)
Hey Jim, I see that Galaxy are bringing out their own version of Aero! 'Galaxy Bubbles'.
http://www.talkingretail.com/products/product-news/14136-brand-new-galaxy-bubbles.html
Please do a review as soon as you find one!
Lol Galaxy couldn't get much closer to a 'rip off' could they! Even the packaging is extremely similar. I'm surprised Cadbury have never brought out Wispa Bubbles (which sound pretty cool lol) but then the Wispa brand seems strong enough as it is.
Looking closely though this looks more like an actual Wispa/Aero bar - it seems to be in an aerated bar?
Hazel
I haven't yet! But I will note your request and get a wriggle on and review them ... they sound ....interesting :D
Phil
I spotted that announced in the grocer yesterday :) I bet mars are a little annoyed it got swept away by the tsunami that was the Cadbury takeover news yesterday! Don't worry chap I am on the case and will fast track a review on the site ASAP.
Alan
I think it looks pretty closely alighned to Aero myself - the packaging anyway. To be honest it doesen't surprise me that Mars have made this move given that Nestle and Cadbury have offering in this part of the market. It makes sense for them to extend the Galaxy bar in to this place.
Thanks everyone - requests noted.
JIM
I can imagine it being nicer than Aero, which I personally am not a fan of. Galaxy chocolate is far superior to Aero chocolate.
Another request Jim, not sure if it was mentioned already but I see Werthers Original have some new chocolate caramels out, would be nice to see a review.
I'm not the biggest Aero fan either, although in the last couple of years I have found Galaxy has become much sweeter than it used to be, and much less creamy. Will be interesting to see how it turns out, esp considering the tiny sizes of the blocks now lol.
Of course, Wispa still rules! lol! :D
I'm very excited that Hotel Chocolat have added an Eton Mess Egg Sandwich to their Easter range! Must be following the great success of the truffle in one of their monthly selections. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
What I'd be interested to see reviewed: the Easter Egg Box Selection, the Dark Scrambled Easter Egg and the Caramel Scrambled Easter Egg.
Phil / Alan
Werthers Originals new chocolates are on my list to watch out for - Noted!!
In regards to the Galaxy Bubbly it will be interesting to see how it compares to the Aero/Wispa competitors.
Susanne
Requests noted! I will make sure they are all included in my easter reviews.
First things first though ... VALENTINES DAY chocolates from Hotel Chocolat!!!
Thanks all - love getting your suggestions.
JIM
I bought 2 bags of the Werthers chocs in my local Spar - one the caramels and the other the milk choc swirls lol wil be interesting to see what you think Jim :)
Hi I had two things recently I thought were rather good, I looked but it doesn't seem like you've reviewed them: 1) Kit Kat Chunky (regular/plain) 2) Hershey's kisses mint The Kit Kat was from Canada and the kisses from the US - they were both gifts so unfortunately I don't have any more to forward. btw if we do send chocolate in directly to you, how do we know where to send it? Thanks.
I've just discovered (via chocablog) a website that looks amazingly delicious: Goldkenn. Maybe you'll find them interesting as well.
I'm loving the look of the truffle collection.
Thea
I wouldn't want to be seen to encourage people send me stuff as I would rather they enjoy it themselves if they bought it :D I have more than enough things to keep me busy reviewing. If you really want to see me review something then you can send me an e-mail Jim{@}chocolatemission.net
Ana
I saw that review the other day! They look cool huh! I will see what I can do and try and find some of their chocolates!
Cheers for the suggestions
JIM
Hi, I have recently become a fan of Belgian company Galler and especially love their dark chocolate bars with hazelnut and almond praliné filling. They seem to be available in the UK sometimes too, either online or in Harrods. But they seemed to be in many standard supermarkets in Belgium and France. I would love to see them reviewed!
That name rings a bell.. I've seen it or had some recently I'm sure, but can't think where! The website looks fab!
Hey Jim, whilst looking on google images I came across a Kitkat Chunky with hazelnut cream, similar to the peanut butter one. Thought you might be interested.
http://popsop.ru/wp-content/uploads/kit-kat_bulgaria.jpg
I've spotted a mention of a Canadian KitKat - banana flavoured!
http://snackspot.org.uk/thread.php?story=0601021621sbc
I wonder if it's still in production, but given the test panels review ('authentically tasting like childrens antibiotic amoxycillin!'), unfortunately I know exactly what it tastes like, having had alot of the stuff as a kid, hence my dislike of anything banana 'flavoured' lol
Gareth
I just checked out the Galler site! Their range looks great. I will look in to getting some straight away! Great suggestion thanks!
Phil / Alan
Both those Kit Kats look cool huh!? I will see if I can track them both down but I don't have strong links in either Bulgaria or Canada :D lets see what I can do eh!?
Cheers for the suggestions guys
JIM
Jim,
Have you seen the Barratt Lovely Mini Eggs they're supposed to be a rival to the Cadbury Mini Eggs. Might be worth a test see if they live up to it!
Hazel
I have heard of them but not seen them yet.
If anyone does spot them give me a heads up!
Thanks for the suggestion Hazel ... added!
Thanks
JIM
Lick The Spoon are another great little independent British chocolate maker - have a look on their website at www.lickthespoon.co.uk ... All their stuff is fantastic (though premium-priced!). I can particularly recommend the Aztec Gold chilli chocolates, which are one of the two best chilli-flavoured chocs I've ever tasted (the other being Chococo's Chilli Tickle). If you could get them to send you some freebies for review, I'm pretty confident you'd enjoy the experience!
Yet another request from me. The new Cadbury's Bar of Plenty range looks quite interesting. Haven't seen them in the shops yet (should be available from February) but will hopefully get my hands on them soon. Your opinion would be appreciated!
I saw an advert for "bar of plenty" in the Netto magazine, it was the one with berries and shortcake. So they must be selling them in major retailers then. Funny how Cadbury are releasing this without any prior warning, and amidst all this talk of Kraft getting rid of the less popular bars!
Paul V
I have taken a look at their site and will e-mail them tomorrow! They look good huh!? Good news on the Chococo front ... I believe samples are being sent next week! Great huh!?
Phil / Susanne
Don't you worry thanks to ChocolateMission readers these are very much on the radar!
I believe I should have samples with me this weekend so please expect the reviews sometime next week.
It is mental they put out no warning they were coming out. I guess people at Cadbury have been a little preoccupied!
Great suggestions all!
JIM
Hey Jim, i've got another small independent chocolate maker called Chocolini's:
http://www.chocolinis.co.uk/home-page-p-1.html
my sister is a very big fan, she's very happy theyre not far from us! lol
I'm sure they'd send you something to review, theyre very nice :)
Alan
They look awesome chap I will give them an e-mail tomorrow. Nice suggestion! I really fancy trying some of the break-up bars. Can you suggest any?
Cheers
Jim
Glad you like the look of them Jim :) the break up bars do look fab don't they, they all sound too tempting to me! lol I'd find it hard to pick one out, although being a great fudge lover the fudge one is high on the list! I came across this video about them talking about their inspirations etc and you can see the brand new shop!(they moved a few weeks ago from the other side of town to the end of my road!) :)
http://www.mediagatherers.com/projects/chocolinis-the-art-of-chocolate/
Hey Jim, I have another choc shop you might like, I tried it a year or so ago and they make wonderful chocs in the yorkshire dales. :
http://uktv.co.uk/food/outlet/aid/623002
the website link on the above site isnt working but their contact details are on the above one if you fancied the look of them :)
Jim, thought I'd share an interesting find with you. Today I found in a cheap shop a "Boci Aero". It's made by Nestle in Budapest, and it's basically an orange Aero coated in dark chocolate. It's actually very nice! Tastes sort of like a dark chocolate orange.
Found a pic of it here:
http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/lg_images/Boci_Aero_with_orange_flavoured_filling_74g_.jpg
Alan
I am still to get hold of Chocolinis chap! I think I will keep those last two suggestiosn in my pocket for the moment! The reviews are backlogging big time at the moment. Check out the upcoming reviews section ... and that is only for things people have requested.
Phil
Looks cool huh!? It is surprising they still don't have the orange Aero in this country isn't it. If you ever find a source for this give me a shout it would be good to review.
Cheers guys
JIM
Can you review the Galaxy Cookie Crumble bar Jim. Also how about branching out into chocolate puds/desserts like Gu or Cadbury Twin Pots I know they aren't bars but they are chocolate (well some of them are!) and you've been branching out in the cake etc departments lately. Ta.
I recommend the new Ritter Sport seasonal flavours. Unfortunately, the milk chocolate bar with cashew nuts which I was looking forward to most didn't live up to expectations. The hazelnut crisp bar is amazing though, and the one with a vanilla flavour filling isn't too bad either.
Requests for brownies? How about these Double Chocolate Brownie Truffles ("rich, fudgy brownie in a bite-sized serving, then it's dunked and covered in the type of chocolate you love the most. To make it even yummier, it's lightly drizzled in dark chocolate")
And Susanne mentioned Ritter Sport. I haven't tried the new ones she is talking about, I'm really curious about the vanilla one. What I have tried is the bio raisin-cashew 65g one and I thought it was quite nice. I'll probably be giving their other 65g bars from this range a try after this experience. Another bar I've been looking at for a while is this big one. I'm still not sure about it, seems interesting, but I'm not sure I'll like it. I seem to have become pretty conservative lately. The most interesting and unusual thing I've tried this year were some milk chocolates with liquid honey filling. Fortunately, they were good. I thought they would be much too sweet, but they weren't.
Oh, and I'd be curious to know what you think of the Duo bar.
Not in the Easter category, Milka have some interesting new products:
- cocoa & raspberry bar
- Choc 'n Choc - I first thought this was just another aerated bar, but it turns out to be something really interesting
- ChocoWafer
- the new Amavel Duo range (vanilla & pistachio; elderberry & almond; cocoa & hazelnut)
- Choco Minis
- the milketten (hazelnut; nougat)
Hey Jim have you seen the new Cadburys biscuits? ones Cadbury Caramel biscuits and the others Crunchie biscuits! Theyre delicous, I dunno why theyve never thought of it before lol we got a pack of each for a £1 each in Sainsburys!
Frankie
Galaxy Cookie Crumble is here --> http://www.chocolatemission.net/2008/04/april-26th-galaxy-cookie-crumble.html
I will take a look at desserts ...perhaps later on in the year! I am stacked with Easter products at the moment! Thanks for the suggestion :D
Susanne
According to Ritter Sport my samples are in the post! I will look to get the reviews up in April! Good suggestion though. I think I am also being sent some of their exclusive VIP bars ...woooo :D
Ana
Blimey you have been busy linking the pictures today :D
I have reviewed two of those bars you suggested ...
Keks + Nuss http://www.chocolatemission.net/2009/06/june-8th-ritter-sport-biscuits-nuts.html
Duo http://www.chocolatemission.net/2009/06/june-5th-ritter-sport-chocolate-duo.html
I also have some of those other Milka products lined up! I will let you know which ones will appearing when closer to the time. Thanks for the suggestions, they are most welcome as always.
Alan
I did indeed spot them in Tesco the other day. I won't spoil the review but I can tell you the review is due up at the beginning of April. For stuff like them I think it is best leaving it a few weeks so people get a chance to try them.
Thanks for the heads up though! Reliable as always
Cheers everyone
JIM
REQUEST PAGE UPDATED
what about the new Cadbury's Caramel biscuits? The caramel in them is delicious.
Emily
Review for them is coming soon. Thanks for the heads up I will add it to the list.
Thanks
JIM
I really don't remember if I have ever requested these before:
1. Paul A. Young house collection truffles
a) raspberry ganache (a long, long time ago... 6-7 years ago I've tried something similar from Cote d'Or... and they were really nice, but I've never seen them since)
b) passion fruit and vanilla (I think I'm becoming quite a fan of fruit+vanilla chocolate fillings)
c) dark chocolate truffle (because I always seem to like the dark chocolate version of truffles better than the milk chocolate version)
d) champagne truffle
2. Almost any Paul A. Young bar. Well, to be honest, the lavender one doesn't sound tempting at all after the Lindt experience. I'm one girl who loves Lindt chocolate, but the lavender really ruins it. The Cranberry, Orange & Cinnamon dark bar and the Raspberry Ganache bar sound particularly tempting.
3. Any of the Paul A. Young brownies.
PS - something else i recommend Bahlsen
PS2 - I'll be trying that Ritter Sport 250g bar (biscuits & nuts) soon. The Duo bar was a lot nicer than I had expected, I'm not usually crazy about white chocolate, but I was curious :)
Ana
Nice suggestions as always thanks! I will get in touch with my contact from Paul Young to see if they want to send anything across. I sure hope they do if his salted caramels are anything to go by.
- I look forward to your views on the keks & nuss :D :D see I am learning German thanks to my chocolate reviewing :D
Thanks
JIM
Hey Jim. Haven't posted for a week or two as my PC broke. Got some catching up to do!
Anyway I noticed Morrisons are now selling Mikado in white and dark chocolate. I got some the other day on offer, the white choc ones are really nice. Would be great to see a review :)
Time to catch up now...
Phil
Hi Chap, I was wondering where you had got to. I hope you have sorted out your computer problems for now.
No worries about the Mikado I am on top of the situation in terms of the white chocolate ones ... not so much the dark chocolate! I need to hound some of them down.
I hope you had fun catching up, always nice reading your view on matters.
JIM
Cheers Jim :)
To be honest I wouldnt go out of your way to find the dark choc Mikado, they weren't much to speak about.
If you haven't yet and get a chance to review the milk chocolate "Dove Truffle Egg" before Easter, it would be nice. They are really good.
I also saw new(?) Snickers and Butterfinger eggs, if you are still looking for candidates for the superpost comparison reviews, but I'm not formally requesting them since they were disappointing!
Have you done the Hershey's Cookies and Cream bar?
I saw them in my student union shop and was considering buying one at the end of lent as they were interesting, but I'd love to see your take on them :)
I saw this on the Cadbury site and thought it looked intriguing! Its a Cadbury Moro Black from NZ!
http://www.cadbury.com/ourbrands/otherfavouritebrands/chocolate/Pages/Moro2.aspx
you may be able to get hold of one of these to review! Would be cool to see what you think :)
Phil
Still not found them ... hmmmm I will have to keep searching for these illusive Mikado dark.
Thea
I am guessing those are eggs from the US huh!? I will try my best by they are pretty hard for me to get hold of. Fingers crossed some of the importing sites will have some of them in stock.
Katie
Indeed it was one of my first ever reviews.
I am not a fan myself but I tell you what ... since it was so long ago I will redo the review to see if I think any differently now.
Review for the minute is here ...
http://www.chocolatemission.net/2008/01/january-24th-hersheys-cookies-n-creme.html
Alan
Good find chap. By the looks of it that was a limited edition from 2007 :D I don't fancy my chances getting hold of one of them. I will make some enquiries though .. who knows!?
Cheers everyone
JIM
Quick, before I forget: last Tuesday I got myself two chocolate bars and a bag of Easter eggs (though I really wouldn't call them that, even though the label calls them Feine Truffel-Eier - they're more like truffles trying to look like they're egg-shaped, but they really don't manage to look like eggs).
One of the bars was probably the worse one I've ever had (because of the filling, which was disgusting, the chocolate itself was quite nice), I took one bite and had to run to spit it out... :( and I had high hopes for it, since it was dark chocolate with raspberry cream filling (speaking of dark chocolate with raspberry filling, do give Anthon Berg's Raspberry Cream Filled Chocolate Twists a try whenever you can find them... those are worth trying). The second one was dark chocolate with hazelnut cream and it was ok, especially when comparing it with the first one, though not amazing. (I know shouldn't have had such high hopes from cheap bars, still... dark chocolate with fruit cream and almost any kind of creamy filling in particular is always something I'm attracted to)
And now I get to the interesting part. The truffle eggs. Those I liked :D Alcohol truffles (they even have a waning on the back saying something like "do not give to children! they contain alcohol!") in dark chocolate. I've never heard of Berning's before, these were the first and, so far, only product I've tried from them... and I was quite impressed. I'd be really curious to know what you think of their products if you can manage to get anything from them.
And now I've just remembered about some other chocolates I've tried this Christmas, last Easter and for Christmas 2008. I don't know if you have ever heard of Gubor. Do give them a try if you can find them. I've tried quite a few products from them, most of them were good, though not something extraordinary. Still, most of them do fall into the "nice chocolate I wouldn't refuse" category. My absolute favourites were the Christmas special orange, hazelnut and marzipan filled truffles. I would have liked the marzipan influence to be stronger, but he orange was so addictive for me! And the Marc de Champagne filled chocolates were also delicious. I'm a bit disappointed because, for this Easter, I haven't seen anything from them in stores, except for the bunnies and eggs.
And, if you're curious to try muffins & related stuff, I recommend KuchenMeister. I've discovered them a year and a half ago, I've tried their entire California Cake range and their muffins and their Baumkuchen. None of their products let me down so far.
Oh, I keep getting ideas :) Have you ever tried this Lindt Excellence Walnut?
[I still have to try that big 250g Ritter Sport Keks + Nuss, but so far I'm thinking that over the next week I'd better be spending my money on Easter-specific stuff]
Ana
It sounds like some of your recent experiences have been better than others huh!? :D
Those muffins sound cool ... as does the Lindt Excellence Walnut. I will try see if I can track them down but I don't think I will be able to in the UK ... it might have to be an importing jobbie I think.
Thanks
JIM
About the chocolate eggs being from the US, I would guess so based on the brands, but I haven't been here in years so I am rediscovering a lot of their products, e.g. I was pretty shocked to buy a Cadbury's bar and find out it was actually made by Hershey's - overseas I have always found it made by the local Cadbury's themselves.
Request: for a chocolate cereal superpost!
Jim, I had an idea for a request. You know how in supermarkets they often do own-brand chocolate-coated fruits, well maybe you could review a few as a superpost? I think Tesco do 'Finest' strawberries coated in white chocolate, and I'm sure they do others like mixed berries, and also nuts.
Theres another Caramel shortbread you should try Jim, - Mr Kipling! i spotted them in packs of 2 in my sainsburys local. they look rather tasty! surely the king of cakes can get it right? :D lol
Jim
I think you should make it your mission to find the lightest and the most filling chocolate bars. Obviously the single bar format only, grab bags and big blocks is cheating!
I think yorkie or snickers or mars bar would be the most filling when you're totally starved. Not sure what would be lightest if you weren't really hungry but fancied a chocolate hit...hmmm
Go on then, you've tried so many in the last 3 yrs which ones do you reckon would 'win' each of these accolades?
Thea
I will try and get a cereal post up by the end of the month! It sounds like a great idea doesn't it!
Phil
Cool I will see what I can do chap. I will have a look in Tesco next time I am in there (which will be this weekend most likely!)
Alan
You would think that Mr Kipling would make good caramel shortbread! I guess we will see! Nice request! I look forward to doing it.
Jessica
Don't you worry all that is covered in the sustenance part of the scoring matrix so it is currently been tracked on an ongoing basis.
There are way too many bars to mention that are the most fufilling ... I think the Snickers is a really good place to start looking though! I find anything with nuts in the best as it is packed full of protein!
Thanks everyone! Will add your requests to the post above!
JIM
Hey Jim,
I see HC are going peppermint dark chocolate puddles. Would be great if you could do a review!
http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/Peppermint-Puddles-P110528/
Hi Jim,
I picked up a pack of the new Cadbury's Crunchie Rocks in the Co-Op today - my initial thoughts are pretty positive (but then I've always been a bit of a sucker for the old cornflake cake!) but I'd be interested in seeing a review from you!
Phil
I just got a whole new batch of Hotel CHocolat products and I am afraid these weren't in there :( I will do them soon don't worry.
Kat
I saw these announced in the press today in the grocer magazine. As soon as I see them I will give them a review.
Thanks
JIM
New stuff from Lindt on my radar :)) I had to look through their catalogue :))
You might find these two interesting:
- Passion Chocolat Orange & Pistache - I'm not a pistachio lover, but I think I've fallen in love with the way it's packaged
- Passion Chocolat Caramel & Fleur de Sel - dark chocolate with caramel, I remember somebody was asking about such chocolates; again, this is beautiful
They also have some new summer bars, 100g, but they look longer and slimmer:
Erdbeer-Milchcrème
Orange-Mandelkrokant
Milchcrème-Nuss & Caramel
Waldfrucht-Vanille
Nocciola
Eiscafé
Amarena-Kirsch
And... they also have a Petits Desserts summer edition!!! And I'll try anything that has Lindt Petits Desserts written on it - I haven't tried one that wasn't at least excellent.
I don't think this (mini-marzipan-orange bar) is new, but I haven't seen it before.
May I suggest a review of Cailler chocolate from Switzerland. www.cailler.ch - It's one of the worlds oldest brands, and one I had not heard of until a trip there a couple of years ago. I'm afraid it spoiled 'other' chocolate for me for some time after. I highly recommend it. I think there was a bar called 'Air' and several others that made quite an impression on me.
Good luck in your continuing mission!
Nestle's Smarties Bar
Ana
You are in luck - I got a load of these sent to me very recently.
Look out for the Nocciola and Eiscafe coming up very soon.
Luke
Thanks for the suggestion chap - I will look into contacting them soon to see what they can do for me. Thanks.
Anon
Already reviewed! Check the archiv.
Thanks everyone.
JIM
Hello, Jim. I am a huge fan of the site, it has definitely made me eat more chocolate and try lots of new things.
I would like to hear your review on some more Marks & Spencer products. I am never dissapointed and they have a very nice selection and variety of products.
I recommend the Jaffa Vienesse Biscuits. Keep up the great reviews.
Hi Jim,my name is Eleonora and I am from Bulgaria...A month or so ago a new range from Lindt hit our markets and I will be glad to see a review of the "Summer Fruits " and especially of the "Ice Cofee Slim Bar"...I found it extremely delicious and knowing your love of all things coffee I hope u will find it equally moreish :)
You've missed the Thorntons Revelations Jim they've stopped making them. Stupid decision they were sooo much nicer than any others it was only the price and fact you could only get them in the Thorntons shop that stopped them being popular! Oh well.
They've got two new bars out for summer - a lemon mousse in white choc and a raspberry mousse in dark choc, would love to know what you make of them.
:-)

Hi Jim, I'm annaliese and I'm from the UK, and if somehow you could, it would be awesome if you could review a Deep Fried mars bar, or snickers, or even a Hotel Chocolat bar, haha!
Ever thought of video reviews?
Love the site so much, I read every day! x
hello my name is dave i was wondering in the 60s a dark chocolate bar with pink cocunut in a blue and white wrapper i do not know the name or who made it has any one got any ideas thank you for your time ...
Hi! I was wondering if you could review Lindt's Lindor Tablets? Specially the 60% cocoa one? That would be really awesome! Thank you ^^ and greetings from Mexico!
Lindt have done it again... They've added new bars to their range. So here is the list, anything you can get from here to review would be great. This is absolutely crazy :))
- Choco Creme Pecannuss - looks lovely and pecans are among my favourite nuts
- Choco-Creme Choco - chocolate with even more chocolate inside? yes, please?
- Truffel Marc de Champagne - I think I remember some lovely seasonal Lindt Marc de Champagne truffle boxes... actually, I think I still have the box... I've kept some of the prettiest chocolate boxes... I keep small stuff like guitar picks in them :)
- Truffel Eierlikor - I've never seen chocolate with egg liqueur cream from Lindt before; there were some liqueur Easter eggs, but the filling was liquid in those
- Truffel Chocolat - chocolate and more chocolate inside again! :D
- Chocotruffel auf Vanillecreme - sounds really tempting, Lindt have done a few good vanilla chocolates before
- Mocca - I don't think this is new, though I don't remember seeing it before; I thought you might find it interesting
- Winterzauber Choco-Rum - this must be one of the most beautiful wrappers I've seen; same goes for the other two bars in this winter edition
- Winterzauber Grog
- Winterzauber Irish Coffee
- Edelbitter Mousse Chocoladen-Truffel - sounds delicious :D
- Edelbitter Mousse Orange - dark chocolate + orange = a combination I love
- Edelbitter Mousse Erdbeere - now this is really new for me, dark chocolate and strawberry... Lindt never had many strawberry chocolates :-?
- Edelbitter Mousse Cranberry - I remember some summer chocolates six years ago, that was the only time when I've tried something with cranberry from Lindt; they also have a cranberry Excellence bar, but that's produced only for Sweden as far as I know :-?
- Cresta - this is not new, have you ever tried it?
And these are just the ones that have caught my eye tonight :))
Roger
Hi Roger. Thanks for the nice words about the site. Please feel free to leave your thoughts more often! We are a friendly bunch around here.
I will try make sure I review some more M&S products for you. I'm a big fan of theirs so I'm always open for doing so.
Ella
Hi there Ella. It's amazing to hear I have readers from all over the world. Greetings to all you in Bulgaria :D
If you have any more details about either of those Lindt products I would be more than happy to see if I can check them out. Thanks for the suggestions - they certainly sound like my sort of thing.
Hannah
Damn Hannah I'm so sorry that is my own lazy fault.
On the plus side I have reviewed those Thorntons bars you are talking about. Take a look under the Thorntons tab you should find them in there.
Annaliese Rose
Hi there Anna. The thought of a deep fat fried mars does sort of scare me :D but hey never say never!
Video Review - yeah why not!? This could be something I could look at doing in the future. I have the equipment to do it.
Anon
Sorry chap ... the 60s was a bit before my time ... who knows someone reading the site might be able to help you out though.
Mir
Blimey Mexico :D That is so cool.
It is funny you should mention that bar Mir - it is in my review queue. I will bump it up the list for you so expect it in the next few weeks.
Ana
Once again I am indebted to your fabulous research :D Great work!
Where do I start with some of them eh!? I would love to try so many of them!
I think I am going to have to drop my German contacts an e-mail! I will let you know as and when I get them.
Out of interest which ones do you think you will be able to get yourself?
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I really appreciate them.
JIM
Have you ever heard of Serious Treats' brownies? They are the biz! Hhttp://serioustreats.co.uk/eres a link to their site:
So far, I haven't seen any of them. There are two supermarkets where they usually have the more interesting (and rare), but I haven't had a reason to go in that part of the city for more than two months... since the beginning of this summer. So I have to check. Last time I checked those supermarkets for new stuff I came back with a bag full of Gubor, Virginias and Lindt.
Also, I have something new from Milka on my radar: they've put out jaffa cakes (orange and raspberry). I saw them today for the first time. I'm really curious, so I'll be trying them in less than two weeks.
Jim,
Can you review the Cadbury Wishes choc that's just been launched. Its a gold packet with a star inside, dairymilk with like a wispa inside and also truffly layer. It's in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation so a great cause if you could give it a review I'm sure more people would be aware of it and buy it. I had one yesterday, yum, I know you'd like it even better if it had a caramel layer but hey if it sells well you might get them to make one of those next, like the Wispa Gold campaigns!
Cheers
Have you seen the new Milkas?
- Milka Amavel Pralines - they have a wafer roll + milk cream and chocolate cream in the middle; Cote d'Or have had something similar for a couple of years and they are lovely; it would be interesting to see how the Milka ones compare;
- Milka Amavel Duo Vanille auf Trüffelcrème
- Milka Amavel Mousse Chocolat Blanc
- Milka ChocoMoo - cow shaped chocolate biscuits :))
I highly recommend you try BEN'S COOKIE's. They have a few locations on London and a few other places. These are the best cookies in the world. Try them!!!!
Hi Jim, got a few suggestions/requests, although hope you don't mind them being biscuits rather than actual chocolate bars but it's hard thinking of any bars that you've not reviwed!
The first is the Foxes Classic because, as the name suggests, it's a classic and a must in any biscuit tin. Second is the Bahlsen "First Class". I've not seen them in the shops I frequent for a couple of years but these are possibly the yummiest, most addictive biscuit I've tried. Would like to see if you agree. Apparently Sainsbury has them. The last are the chocolate covered Oreos. There were both the Milk and White varieties. I seen them for the first time in Asda at the weekend (though can't see them on their online store). If it weren't for all the other goodies I still need to use up I's have bought a box of each type myself but will definitely try them soon.
Apologies if you have in fact covered any of these already but I did check. Thanks
Anon
I've added Serious Treats Brownies to the list. Thanks.
Jane
Cadbury Wishes - request completed ;)
Ana
Thanks for the suggestions. Indeed I have seen those new Milka products and I'm making arrangements for getting them sent over to me. Hopefully you should see some reviews very soon! I look forward to your comments when they appear on the site.
Marc
Ben's Cookies eh!? I've not seen them before. I will keep my eyes open for them.
Ria
Thanks for the requests. I'm getting more and more in to my biscuit trialling recently so I'm more than happy to take a look at them.
Expect to see them in some BnB posts soon. I'm especially keen on the chocolate covered Oreos! If you check out my Christmas reviews last year you will see I reviewed the white chocolate covered ones last year (absolutely superb! Look out for them!!).
Thanks
JIM
Hi Jim, brilliant blog!
Have you reviewed the Lindt raspberry pod bars? So amazing.
And seeing as it's only 70 days til Christmas :) I was wondering, since you would be the person to ask; Do you remember those little Cadbury's cubes you could find in Woolies? (ah, woolies. . .pic n' mix will forever be in my heart) They were miniatures of Cadbury's caramel with a little mistletoe decorated foil cover. I think they also did a truffle kind of filling as well. I was hoping they still made them.
Also, do you remember those KP Chocolate dip things? I almost started crying at memories of my time as an 8 year old when a picture popped up on google!
Oh, also I was wondering if you had tried the Marc de Champagne truffles from Fortnum and Masons? They are DIVINE. As well as the rest of their chocs (rose and violet creams, English cream selection etc.) I seriously recommend them.
Thanks ^^
Hi, if it hasn't already been said could you do a review of the Screme egg? I have only seen them in Asda though, thanks :).
What about Kit Kat Senses Caramel cream?
Theres a awesome candy store where I live called Ella's Sweet Shoppe. I just bought silly gummi bandz for the kids and me and my wife had their gourmet gelato. Wife had strawberry swirl cheescakeg and pistachio and I had Headless horseman (aka Pumpkin pie spice) ;-)
Check them out if your ever ouyt this way. Heres their website to
http://www.EllasSweetShoppe.com
What about Ritter Sport 50% dark negro Noir, or have I just missed it?
I've just discovered something new from Toblerone - it's a Christmas limited edition called Snowtop. I haven't tried it yet - the picture is from a supermarket leaflet. I'll be buying it tomorrow after work - I haven't seen anything new from Toblerone since the Fruit & Nut and the Minis came out in 2008.
If you can find it, I'd be interested to hear your opinion on it :)
Another suggestion: Dolfin chocolates. I'd like to know what you think about them. Personally, I wasn't that impressed by the bars that I've tried (green tea, cinnamon, dark orange, speculoos). Sure, they're interesting chocolates, but I would have liked them sweeter (except for the Speculoos, where you have the caramel component) and creamier (the milk chocolate ones). A lot of times you say about chocolates that you find them to sweet, so it would be very interesting to hear what you think about these.
Interesting you should post this Ana! I just saw Dolfin chocolate for the first time yesterday, 'noir poivre rose' in a pink wrapper. Have you tried that one? At first I got excited thinking it was pepper + rose lol which would have been really unusual, then I realized it was just peppercorns, pink colored ones.
No, I've seen that one as well, but I haven't tried it.
I did like them better today, especially the cinnamon.
I'll certainly try the plain milk chocolate and the 77% dark & white hot chocolates. I'd also like to try the butterscotch... if I can find it because it was one of the few bars of the rage that I haven't seen in the supermarket.
Please can you review the new Caramelissimo mini slab? It seems to have replaced the Caramellow and it looks a bit like a cross between rocky road and caramellow... Yum!
Might have to re-review the mars bar, it's being reduced in size again soon!
What about Whittaker's Ghana Peppermint!!
Heres a couple of requests Jim, I think you'd enjoy these
Gorvett & Stone chocolates - I'm, sure theyd send some for yon to review, they ahve allsorts of wonderful things on their website.
Kennedy's Fine Chocolates - theyre based in Cumbria and the box of chocs I was given is delicious! Again I'm sure theyd oblige a request.
I'd highly recommend both as gift ideas.
Just want you to know, Ana - that Dolfin with pink pepper is well worth trying.
Thanks for all the requests everyone. I will update the post when I have 5 minutes later on.
Rose - The Screme Egg was reviewed.
Anon - The Kit Kat Senses Caramel has been reviewed.
Gene - Thanks for the website link. They make some cool retro candy by the looks of it.
Kit - I don't seem to have reviewed that one :D I will get on to Ritter Sport right away.
Ana /Thea - Dolfin, I have just bought a few of their bars. Expect to see some reviews appearing this year. Nice suggestions.
Anon - I will see what I can do about that Whittakers bar. They aren't easy to get hold of though.
Alan - Nice suggestions chap. I will try find some contact details for them and give them an e-mail. Great suggestions as always!
Thea - Great, it sounds like you will be have some thoughts about my upcoming dolfin posts :D It's always good to have the second opinions!!
Thanks folks
JIM
Oh, so you got some Dolphin bars? I'll be waiting for the review then. I haven't tried any other of their bars in the meanwhile. I intend to... before this winter is over. I haven't been much in the mood for actually trying sweets lately. I got a whole bag of chocolates for Chistmas. Kept the Lindt and the Anthon Berg, one of those tiny 6g square chocolates from Carrefour, two Gunz truffles and gave the rest away.
And then I discovered in a German shop some marzipan bars from Schluckwerder. I tried 3 of them: the Praline, Plum in Madeira and Rum-Truffle.
The concept of the Plum in Madeira seemed somewhat similar to that of Anthon Berg's Marzipan discs (speaking of Anthon Berg, will a review come up?), which I have tried again this Christmas and found that I liked them better than I did two years ago (I wonder whether the fact that these ones came from Italy had anything to do with it :-?)
If you can track the Schluckwerder, it would be interesting to hear how you think they compare to other marzipan bars.
3 more suggestions following a visit to a coffee shop, where I actually went to buy jam, but they had none of the four on my list so I ended up studying their chocolates...
Monbana
Rausch
and a name that was completely new to me...
Schokomonk
Hi Jim, are you doing awards for 2010? I would love to see this. Please let us know.
Thanks.
Marc.
Hi Jim, I have a couple of suggestions that popped to mind over the Christmas period;
firstly I got Fortnum and Mason champagne and assorted truffles over Christmas, I think you'd really enjoy them, they're so luxurious :) And also Charbonnel et Walker pink champagne truffles (yes, I like champagne... :p)
Also, just wondering if you've seen these around, but I woke up on Christmas morning to find a 1KG giant Lindt Santa!! I swear the size made it better..
Lastly, I've been searching for Cote d'Or praline elephants everywhere, can't seem to find them but I remember them being so lovely, I'd definitely reccomend them
Thanks for the requests guys
UPDATED!!!
Meiji Apollo Strawberry Chocolates are very cute, and taste quite unusual, maybe as it was the first Japanese chocolate I ever had, and it was three years ago when I got them from The Japanese Shop in York, but I remember them being very creamy as opposed to chocolatey, somewhat even yoghurty. Is that normal with Japanese chocolate?
Please can you tell me where I canpurchase Ghirardelli Squares in the UK - I just cannot seem to find anywhere. Help please
Annette
Have you reviewed the new poppets with cookie dough? i thought they looked interesting, not sure if they would be any good, especially looking at the other poppets reviews!! lol
Woah, your review list is long so I feel bad to add to it!
But, this chocolate company looks pretty interesting. Chocolate + tea = winning combination for many people, so have a look. :D

Bournville Dark(?) biscuits (the round ones not fingers) that go with the new Dairy Milk. In fact it would be neat to see how the whole new Crunchie/Turkish/etc. range (I think there are 5?) compares, to make the choice easier.
Chocolate flavoured Krushems from KFC and Mcflurry's from Mcdonalds
SPOTTED IN Poundland, Home Bargains, Poundworld - Nestle Extrafino 100g bar. It's milk chocolate with fruit and nuts, is it new?
Hi Jim
Please would you review M&S's Extremely Chocolatey Millionaires Crispies?
Thanks!
x
Aero Hot Chocolate is worth a try.
