Kcal 230 Fat 11g Fat(sats) 6g Reese's peanut butter cups are an all time classic - A thickish layer of chocolate covers a peanut butter centre - sounds good huh!?
The dividing of the cups was relatively easy and not the messy experience I was expecting. The smell of the cups was gorgeous poignant peanut butter scents emerged as soon as I opened the packet ... yum!
The taste itself was delightfully pleasent, though there wew a few issues. The chocolate was bit on the bland side, and had an odd waxy texture that didn't feel the nicest when melting. With that said, the peanut butter was nothing short of amazing. It was sweet, nutty and with an amazing saltyness that made for an amazingly moreish taste.
Overall despite the disappointing chocolate this was one tasty product. The only better peanut butter chocolate product I have had are the white chocolate cups, which I would have to say are ever so slightly to my preference. These are an all time classic, and I urge you to try them if you have never had the pleasure.

These are great, they seem to melt in the mouth quite nicely. I've been noticing packs of 3 cups around whereas I thought the 'original' only had 2?
Saz - You may have seen today I reviewed the mini versions! Take a look!
The 3 packs your noticing are actually our imported versions from Canada!! The US two packs = 43g whilst out 3 packs = 51g....make what you want from that!I dont know if there are any differences in taste....*sigh* looks like im going to have to try it out huh! lol I will do this review sometime soon.
That aside Reese's products are sooo good for peanut butter but need so much work on their chocolate!
Thanks
Jim
If our PB Cups are from Canada and 3 cups = 51g, doesnt that make them smaller than US PB Cups (2 Cups = 43g?) Quite a bit smaller.
Anyway, I quite liked the peanut butter filling in these, but found the chocolate coating poor quality, kind of waxy. And is it me or do I detect a hint of coffee in the chocolate?
Simon G/GrimTales :D
Simon They certainly are smaller my friend - heaven knows why eh!?
This review is based on the US ones - I havent reviewed the pack of three we get in this country to see if there are any differences. One day I will im sure!
From what you say though it looks like its going to be same old story! Amazingly great peanut butter but poor chocolate. I cant say I have ever picked up a note of coffee but its something I will look out for next time I try them!
Thanks for the input Si!
Jim
I tried these (the uk version anyway) and the nutrageous bar and didn't really take to them atall tho my sister did. the bar was abit better but i thought the cups tasted awful. Maybe I'm just not into peanut butter enough, at least in chocolates lol maybe it was the chcolate itself. eitehr way they just didn't do it for me atall lol
cheers
Alan
Alan man you may have noticed im a huuuuuge peanut butter fan ... and personally I think Reese' PB is simply sublime!
With Reese's its really the peanut butter you have to be interested in - the chocolate is sadly substandard across their whole portfolio :( as far as peanut butter goes it honestly doesn't get better.
Cheers for your opinion!
Jim
very true lol ive never tried the peanut butter kitkat, i might enjoy that more with the chocolate being better. i like peanut butter but have never really thought about it with chocolate, prob because its not so commona combination in the uk maybe? ive noticed its use alot in the US
cheers
Alan
Alan It is very much a US thing! The PB/Choc combo is very popular over there, they have some amazing products! Have a look under the 'Peanuts' tag! That should highlight some good ones for you if you interested.
Its not only Reese's that have attempted the combo either! Lindt do some Lindor Peanut Butter truffles, Cadbury have the Wunderbar .... theres so so many! If you like nuts its defo a combo you should look into more!
Cheers
Jim
I've tried these - I thought they were alright but after the first one I found them really salty - I'm not sure I like that taste in chocolate! :D I liked the texture but I'm not sure if I would buy them again.
Roisin I really enjoy the little salty kick of Reese's PB ... definitely an acquired taste though, I can see how it takes some getting used to. I think that you should persist with them - but i am only saying that because I love PB and chocolate, it is one of my fave combinations.
Thank for sharing your views, it is always nice to hear what my readers think.
Thanks

I found them in the local supermarket in Ruwais, UAE, where I have not expected them at all. Since I love peanut butter and chocolate I had to give them a try.
I have to admit, I was disappointed regarding the whole peanut butter cup concept because I was definitely missing a crunch, crisp or something else.
The peanut butter really tasted nice and I can very well imagine to spoon it out of a jar. I know, there is no crunch in that either but then I'm not looking for it, when I'm spooning.
As far as the two remaining cups goes after my disappointment, I pimped them with Digestive Crackers, put some Cream Cheese on the cracker and topped it with a Reese Cup. Mmmh, that was really good!

I found these in my local Sainsbury's today... either this is a new development or I have not been paying proper attention to their chocolate selection. My first thought was that they tasted less salty than the US ones, but the packet says they are made in USA and imported by Hershey's Leatherhead. Here I was a month ago requesting peanutty chocolates from a US friend, and now these and Snickers Maximus have turned up on my doorstep :)
Considering I don't like peanut butter, I was surprised that I found the filling quite enjoyable. The chocolate itself wasn't very good though; like you said, it was rather waxy.
