Welcome to Edition numero 2 of the new 7Days of Chocolate Reviews - again if you have any feedback on the structure or content just drop me a comment:
The week started off with me taking a look at a few of Lindt's new summer products. First I got stuck into a few variants from the Fioretto range, then on Tuesday a bar from the new 'soft melting' product line the Hazelnut Gianduja. Feedback on both products were resoundingly positive though the folks at Hotel Chocolat may wish to note there were demands made by Gemma & Lottie to bring back their own Gianduja squares.
Another review of great interest this week was the Cadbury Dairy Milk Desserts Triamisu. No one seemed overly impressed with this Cadbury effort however Heidi & Susanne suggested I get myself involved with a brand named Schgotten who they proclaim offer a better chocolate and coffee combination ... I will have to see about that now :)
Lastly I got my behind around to sorting out a Facebook page for ChocolateMission! Be sure to add me :D :D Please do so by clicking HERE ... or if your more a Twitter person .. add me by clicking HERE

Thanks for the excellent round-up!
The brand you might want to try is called Schogetten ;)
As for discontinued chocolate, I'm still veeeery annoyed with the folk at Ritter Sport for their decision to withdraw the Olympia bar many years ago. It was milk chocolate with a yogurt filling, but not as sharp as in the regular yogurt bar, it had a slight hint of honey. It also contained crunchy dextrose pieces (hence the Olympia-sport-fitness-etc. association) and roasted hazelnut pieces. It was sooooo good!!!
I would love to see the return of the Secret. :) I used to love them when I was a kid, but they just seemed to disappear.

woo I'm in the omnibus! I feel special ;)
Glad to hear thorntons have sent you their award winners, I'd be interested to hear your reaction on the tonka bean one in particular. I for one am loving it.
I mourn for cadbury's fuse. I want it back in my sweaty clasp more than anything. Also sainsbury's creamy coconut bar, it was divine to the extreme.
I'm definitely with bringing back the Secret bar, also Nuts about Caramel and Mackintosh's Golden Cup, and Fuses! I recently bought an out of date one online!(to keep not eat!) lol they were lovely!
Susanne
Schogetten woops :D
I really like the sound of the Olympia bar! I wish I had tried it back in the day! I guess we will have to wait to see what they come up with for the olympics again in a few years!
Gemma
I heard rumblings about the Secret coming back but I believe it just can't be done because of the high costs associated with making it! A real shame!
Lottie
Indeed you are famous! My reviews of Thorntons new gear starts tomorrow so be sure to check that bad boy out!
I have to agree with you on the Fuse! That would be the one getting my vote anyway! It is not only missed generally but also from the Miniature Hero selection - it was always by far the most interesting one!
Alan
Cadbury Nuts about Caramel ... now that would come a pretty close second to the Fuse. I don't know why I asked this question this week ... just makes us all look back and wish that things were still around! Oh well it isnt as if the market is that sparse anyway!
Thanks for your suggestions! Let hope that some corporate boffins are reading this!
Cheers
Jim
I wonder why the Fuse was discontinued? I remember reading it was one of the most popular bars cadbury had launched and always sold well...
i never understand it really, bars that arent that popular keep on going (..Timeout!) but little gems that would be popular for many years or even decades (eg Wispa - altho they did relent on that one!) get the chop lol. its not even as if the Fuse couldnt have been put into the DM bar shape.
Bring back Cadbury Mint Crisp! I loved that bar it was perfect
Ooh good q, I know you can buy them elsewhere, but I would like them to start selling white chocolate KitKat chunkys and also Cadbury snowflake again (I am in a white choco mood for some reason!) :o)
Lu
The mint crisp is still around I think in some carnation! I saw it just the other day in the Dairy Milk selection block box set! You can get your fill there!
Heidi
Indeed in other European countries I think you can get hold of them! I got a review of the Kit Kat Chunky Caramel lined up this week ... it is rather good!
Thanks
Jim
Oooh yes Snowflake, I remember when they came out at the same time as white Kitkat chunky, they were supposedly trying to increase sales of white chocolate at the time. Sadly neither took off :(
If I could bring a product back though it'd be the Wonka Triple Dazzle Caramel - white chocolate with a gooey caramel centre. It was heaven!
Phil
I can honestly see both of them hitting the UK shores again sometime soon! They have the ability to manufacture them abroad so I don't think it will be long before we see either of them.
Wonka Triple Dazzle Caramel ... now there is a name! I can't say I ever tried it myself but the name is enough to make me curious alone!
Thanks
Jim
Lol well they also did, Whipple Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight and Nutty Crunch Surprise (both in milk choc). Just had a look and there's some old Ciao reviews of it here:

Phil
Now those are some cool names :D I like the look of that bar that you just linked to! Both the packaging and the bar itself look pretty cool! Good find! Cheers for sharing that.
Thanks
Jim
Good News Jim! Just read the latest press release from Ritter Sport. Ever since they discontinued the Olympia bar fans have been writing to them about it, and they're now reintroducing it later this summer! Woohoooo! That just made my day.
Susanne
When I finally get my mits on it I will have to dedicate the review to you :) if you could link me to the Ritter PR that would be awesome!
Thanks
Jim
Unfortunately there isn't an English version of the PR, presumably because the Olympia bar is intended only for the German market. Here's the German version, if that's of any interest: http://www.ritter-sport.de/#/de_DE/olympia/
There is even a blog to keep up with what's happening and to connect with other Olympia fans: http://www.rittersportolympia.de/
I think it'll be a massive success, it speaks for itself that people have been asking for it to be reintroduced for a number of years.
