### Jim's Corner + QOTW ###
Hi Everyone lets keep this short and sweet this week.
Over the past few days I have been using the ChocolateMission Twitter feed to contact some more of our favourite celebs. I have had some surprising feedback so far some pretty well known faces so be sure to check that out weekend after next.
One of the biggest talking points you may have missed this week came off the back of this article I posted last week about Hershey's eyeing Cadbury (HERE). This article seemed to catch the attention of a few reader most notably Alan and Cybele (Candyblog) and sparked a debate as to which chocolate was superior ... Cadbury or Hershey? Both sides raised compelling arguments and the argument reached a nice point where both sides had stated equally justifiable cases ....so why don't the rest of us decide ...
'Which do you prefer out of Hershey's Milk Chocolate or Cadbury Dairy Milk?'
... leave your vote by popping a comment below! I look forward to hearing your answers
JIM
The ChocolateMission Omnibus:
Thornton's got a fair bit of attention this week and somehow managed to pop up 3 out of the 6 days. First of all on Monday I published my review of their Mini Caramel Shortcakes (See HERE). These were lauded by most as being an utterly fantastic snack with the likes of Susanne, Hiedi, Lottie and George all adding their own praise to my own. The second Thornton's product this week was the Milk Chocolate Venezuela 37% (See HERE) which similarly scored very highly on the rating system. Lastly on Saturday I got around to trying Thornton's Chocolate Cake Bars which were recommended to me by Phil (See HERE). They were among the best Cake Bars I have eaten and Ana and Mark concurred with this entirely.
Cadbury's also had another two outings this week with firstly the Cadbury Peanuts (See HERE) and then the Cadbury Dairy Milk Rocky Road (See HERE) from New Zealand. The less said about the Peanuts is probably for the better, though the Rocky Road seemed to catch the eye of the likes of Maggs. In between those reviews I managed to publish my review of McVitie's Galaxy Cake Bars (See HERE).
News from the Chocolate Market:
* Cadbury released their new Fairtrade TVC and are also bringing out a music single - I think I will pass thanks! See HERE
* Nestle are releasing price marked packs for some of their best known brands. See HERE
* If you like Aero Bubbles you will be pleased to hear that for a limited time Nestle are giving away 33% free with each pack. See HERE
* There is even more evidence that cocoa prices will be going up soon. See HERE
* Yet more speculation on the Kraft takeover of Cadbury. See HERE
Post from other blogs I enjoyed this week:
* Foodstufffinds - I do love Pringles and Cin at FFF has recently been finding all these new great sounding flavours. See HERE.
* GiGi Reviews - Speaking of crisps GiGi got hold of a new flavour of Doritos in the US - Cheesy Enchilada and Sour Cream YUM! See HERE.
* ImpulsiveBuy - I liked the look of these Yoplait Lemon Torte desserts that Marvo reviewed at IB. See HERE.
* CandyBlog - Cybele did a fantastic job documenting how US Cadbury Dairy Milk compares to our UK Dairy Milk. See HERE.
* Chocablog - Dom wrote a funny review about some knock off Jaffa Cakes. Funny stuff!! See HERE

There is only one winner for me and its Dairy Milk. The aftertaste of Hershey's is garbage.
To be honest I'm not too keen on either one of them, but if I had to choose it would always be Dairy Milk. Hershey's is horrible horrible stuff.
Was this even worth asking Jim? It has to be DM!!!! Anyone who thinks otherwise is either deluded or WRONG.
The cadbury taste is so familiar and comforting. It's wrong, but to me cdm IS chocolate, I've grown up with it and it's the basis for all comparason, whether that's subconscious or not. It's mass-produced, not even considered chocolate to some people's standards but to me it's always been *the* definition of chocolate. I'm sure people who grew up with Hershey would feel the same. Does that make sense?!
It does what it does brilliantly, as does hershey, which is be a distinctive, affordable milk chocolate with consistent quality and mass-appeal. Whether it be considered actual "quality" or not is probably dependant on individual taste and what else you eat. For a side by side comparason I'd say they're pretty much on a par, with cadbury maybe a tad more prestigious!
Tastewise I've never given hershey a fair chance, my immediate reaction with it is to go urgh it tastes of socky old yoghurt. I could eat cadbury all day however. It's a sweet, creamy comfort blanket.
CADBURYS DAIRY MILK FTW!!!!!!!!!!!
The Hershey kisses my friend brought back from Florida once were disgusting.
They tasted like old milk does when it has been left out the fridge. YUCK.
A no-brainer this one, CDM!!!
Jim you must have misunderstood me, it was the toffee Thorntons cake bars I said you should try. I've not actually tried the chocolate ones myself although they look lovely. The toffee ones have a plain sponge base with a layer of buttercream and toffee, coated in milk choc. They're usually situated next to the chocolate ones in shops.
Has to be DairyMilk but don't like some of the criticism that Hershey is coming in for here. I have never understood why people say it has an acrrid aftertaste?
I would happily eat either but it has to be Dairy Milk for me.
Pool82 is spot on Hersheys taste like it is made with mank milk. It turns my stomach.
Just to clarify, I wasn't debating whether Hershey's Milk Chocolate or Cadbury's Milk Chocolate was "better." We were discussing the different versions of Dairy Milk made in different countries.
For any candy, you can say that something uses better quality ingredients or has a higher standard of manufacturing, but none of that is guaranteed to make everyone like it better.
I grew up eating Hershey chocolate but since I moved to England 6 years ago with my husband I have been weened onto dairy milk.
For me I would say Hershey for nostalgia value but dairy milk as an everyday choc.
and the winner by knockout
....DAIIIIRRRRY MILLLLLLLLLLLK
Dairy Milk > Hersheys Choc
...but add Milka into the question, and my answer may be more controversial!
Well that is a silly question. The winner is obviosuly GALAXY :P
Everyone
Looks like we have 13 that prefer Dairy Milk ... though a few of you are undecided obviously.
:D :D
I think a few points that have come up are quite interesting.
A few of you have mentioned the aftertaste of Hershey's being the turn off. Personally I think it is one of those things that as you eat you get more used to. As lily says if you grew up eating it I am sure it just becomes second nature.
Lottie
I think your spot on in that preference largelly depends on what you got brought up eating as a kid.
For instance I love Milkybar ... yet I know it is an awful white chocolate. I just got brought up with it so I always get a wonderful nostalgic feeling when I eat it, thus I love it.
Cybele
Apologies your debate got so techinal I forgot what you were both talking about in the first place.
Phil
Oh no :) I will have to find these Toffee ones now ... what a damn shame eh ;) total inconvenience having to eat these yummy chocolate ones as well :)
Thanks everyone! Keep the votes coming in!
Jim
Strike up another for CDM. I do like Hersheys aswell mind!!!
Am I too late to vote? Dairy Milk for me ..... but I do like both it is hard :( :(
