April 3rd: '7Days of Chocolate Reviews' - Edition 38

Hi All,

The logo above is a blast from the past isn't it :D I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend. If you would like to get familiar with some of the products you may be receiving this weekend I suggest you check out my reviews of popular Easter products ...

Easter 2008 Reviews ... HERE

Easter 2010 Reviews ... HERE

Have I really been doing this three years now!? I need a new hobby huh :D

Question of the week of course has to be ... 'What have you been giving or receiving this Easter?' ... be sure to drop me a note with what you get/give.

There are a great few weeks coming up on the site ... more Ritter Sport, Galler, Hotel Chocolat, Cadbury and Galaxy products all coming in the next few days.

Thanks for all your continued support and comments. Have a great Easter holiday.

JIM

Reading those easter reviews has really got me in the mood for tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will be chocolate galore lol.

The new photo on that toffee crisp review looks excellent.

Tomorrow I will giving my mum dad and sister one of the Hotel Chocolat tiny pots each. I know they are a bit childish but I think they will appreciate them.

Lol I bought myself one too :)

Great updates Jim, as always :)
Im giving Mint Aero, Baileys and matesers and Chocolini's own filled eggs, and receiving a Retro Smaties egg amongst (I don't know any others lol)

Talking of smarties and Milkybar updates thought you'd like to see this:

another collection of old skool bars and wrappers - anyone else think Cadburys Toffee Buttons (toffee filled buttons) from the 60's = Caramel Nibbles of now?! Cadbury's Twenties = Cadburys miniatures! It's cool to see how many look familiar today (e.g Turkish Delight, Polos) yet others have had a complete makeover! It's even got my fondly remembered Golden Cup :)

Happy Easter Jim :)

BTW did you notice the review of the brown sugar cinnamon Ritz? Those Americans are brave with flavours aren't they! I like the sound of it.

Happy Easter Jim - Well Done for some great reviews :).

Im giving Thorntons eggs this year.

But ive given myself £200 worth of hotel chocolat LOL! i kinda got carried out away and kept adding things lol. Im just opening the Ostrich Milk egg and its AMAZING! lol this thing is seriously huge and sooooo heavy lol.

Also the Eaton Mess egg sandwhich is awesome as well :D.

Is it bad to get 90% of your daily calories from chocolate lol?

Have a good one Jim!!! we need pics of your easter feast!!

This weekend the average child will eat over 2.5kg of chocolate - OMG!!! I don't even have that much chocolate in the house. This is all the chocolate I have in the house. That totals a fifth of the quantity that article is talking about.

Gifts? Chocolate-wise a box of merci which I shared so well that I was left with only one finger =)) + 2 Milka boxes I immediately passed on to my parents were the only proper chocolate gifts I got. But I also got money to get myself some chocolates and I got something I've never tried before... those Gubor ones in the picture:
- orange-marzipan chocolate covered leaves
- a box of assorted chocolates
- a little bunny
- a bag of vanilla & egg liqueur truffles
- a lime-flavoured (that's a strong flavour!) milk chocolate apple made out of slices (just like those chocolate oranges)

I hope for some good ol' Lindt after Easter :D

Non-chocolate: i got a ton of clothing items (no surprise, most of my family works in the fashion industry) the most interesting one being a Bugs Bunny & Lola t-shirt, strawberry-flavoured candles and a lime&mint-flavoured perfume.

I like the new pictures. Good idea doing them because your new reviews look ten times better lol.

If I don't get some scrummy chocolate tomorrow there is going to be serious trouble.

I have been waiting all weekend but no sign of any chocolate yet :(

David

I hope you got all the chocolate that you wanted chap.

Justin

I am sure they were very grateful for them. Thanks for the nice words about the photo.

Anon

You are a very nice sibling to have :D I am sure the Lindt gold bunny would go down a treat.

Lucy

Sounds like you were being very generous. I hope the recipetents were equally so.

Alan

Wow that is all very geneorus of you! I wouldn't expect anything less given how kind you have been too me in the past :D

Nice link! I don't recognise any of them first hand but it is awesome seeing how they all used to be wrapped. I think packaging has come a long way since those days but you can't help but think some of them look really cool.

It is funny how the polos look very little different isn't it :D

Daisy

Straight back at ya :D

Richard

It is more like two and a half but yeh it is a blooming long time isn't it. I should try make more of the banners I use for the site shouldn't I. I will try get some more seasonal ones soon.

Paul

Hi Paul I hope you got your wish.

Phil

I didn't actually but I will check it out now. I like Ritz crackers, I can imagine I would like the cinnamon ones too.

Maututu

Thanks very much chap! I see you are contributing frequently now good on ya :D

I love the fact you bought yourself an ostrich egg, good work :D The truffles you get aswell are fantastic aren't they!

It probably won't harm you eating that much chocolate every once and a while but I wouldn't make it a common thing haha

My Easter feast was non-existent I am afraid. I ate all the Easter chocolates I reviewed weeks and weeks ago to get all the reviews up on the site. My family also feel a bit silly buying me chocolate aswell ... we normally have enough in the house to sink a navy battle ship with all the samples I get sent.

Maggs

Thank you! I hope you are having a nice break aswell.

Ana

I know ... 2,5kg sounded a lot to me too!

Some of those chocolates look really nice. I haven't heard of Gubor before but I will have to check them out soon.

You get non-chocolate presents at easter? Boy I wish we did that in the UK. Unfortunately not though.

Emma

Oh dear I hope you got a nice truckload of the stuff today! Let me know what you got.

Thanks everyone
JIM

I know, sometimes I think the simpler look was the best lol I counted at least 16 bars still going today which is quite an achievement really. I wish we had more of those bars filled with creams/fondants still around (Cadburys strawberyy/summer fruits/peppermint sound cool).. maybe theyre just out of fashion these days. Apart from the Fry's bars and Cadburys Snack in australia I cant think of any :(
