Post from other blogs I enjoyed this week

* TheImpulsiveBuy - Marvo has been checking out these 'Pillsbury Sweet Moments Chocolate Fudge Molten Lava Brownies' - they certainly win the award for longest name ever ... SEE HERE

* Foodstufffinds - The world cup may be over (boooo!), but Cin is still mopping up the last of the Walker's limited edition world cup flavours. This week it was 'Welsh Rarebit' ... wait a minute ... Wales didn't even qualify for the world cup ... SEE HERE

* CandyBlog - Cybele posted her review of the Aero 70% Dark and gave it a good score of 8/10 ... SEE HERE

* SugarPressure - There was a nice review of the Green & Black's Mint Dark Chocolate Bar posted on their site. It's not one we seen that commonly here in the UK ... SEE HERE

* GiGiReviews - Why are Burritos so popular in the US but not here in the UK? This Barbacoa Burrito doesn't sound anything special, but I still would welcome a decent Burrito outlet here in the UK ... SEE HERE

* YumYucky - Try reading these stories of food/drink horrors by Josie without smiling. Those stories remind of the time I took a swig of cooking oil rather than my drink when I was making a stir fry ... embarrassingly that was only last week :D ... See HERE

I haven't had time to collate all the stories from the chocolate market this week. Please feel free to leave a comment with any news that has caught your eye this week!!

I knew I wasn't going to win, oh well. How many entries were there out of interest?

Are you going to be running another one anytime soon?

Congrats to the winners!!!

lol about the cooking oil :D thanks for the "Yum Yucky" link, it is great. I was just thinking no-one else could have baked a chocolate cake with salt instead of sugar...till I read it!

I knew I wasn't going to win so I didn't have my hopes up.

Can you give us an idea of what you are reviewing soon?

Congrats to the winners!

Thanks for the love Jim!

Interesting point about the burritos. I feel safe to say the reason stems from our Mexican neighbors bringing their foods and cultures to us. Especially in the border states. Granted, for the most part like any other cultures food that gets assimilated it get's Americanized and watered down (cough-Chipotle-cough). But if you are lucky enough to get something more authentic it can blow your mind.

I think you guys have something similar on your side of the pond with curries. It's not that they are unpopular here, it just seems to me they are A LOT more popular there.

EVERYONE

Well done everyone for congratulating the winners. I hope they all share their thoughts on the quality of the cakes with us.

Answering some of your questions ....

Ana - What brand of chocolates were they!? Were they just solid chocolate htne?

Duncan - I plan on being one of those bond holders soon. I think Hotel Chocolat are destined for great things! Buy now people!

Thea - That cake couldn't have tasted great :D

Daisy - I can't remember what it was, tell me again.

David - Indeed, I will tell you all more about the in's and out's of the chocolate shop next week.

Mysterio - this week I have Hotel Chocolat, Galler and Ritter Sport all due up on the site!

I look forward to hearing from you all again this week. You know I value hearing from you all.

Cheers
JIM

Gigi

No problem Gi! I'm always happy to send people in the direction of your site :D
We have only ONE Taco bell in the whole country! ONE!! Even that has only just opened.

I wish we had a decent place to buy them from. I love mexican food.

I was always astounded by the lack of curry places in the US. Seriously the UK couldn't live without Curry. It's like our national dish haha!
When you come to UK I will take you out for a curry :D

Villars Larmes:
- Larmes de Kirsch au Chocolat Noir (Bittersweet Chocolate with Cherry Liqueur)
- Larmes de Poires Williams au Chocolat au Lait (Swiss Milk Chocolate with Williams Pear Brandy)
- Larmes de Damassine au Chocolat Noir (Bittersweet Chocolate with Damson Brandy)

They were supposed to have a liquid filling inside those pods. Somehow, the alcohol escaped, the chocolate crashed into itself... the sugar crust and the alcoholic taste were still present, but the liquid filling was completely missing. Maybe the temperature they were kept at wasn't right, maybe it was too high? I don't know for sure... I've never seen anything like this before.

I'm still a bit upset about it because the chocolate itself did not taste bad, so maybe they really are nice bars... except I was unlucky with the ones I bought.

I'd really like to give them another try, but I haven't seen this Villars range anywhere else (even though I've seen other Villars ranges in so many places) and I don't want to buy them from the same place.
