Hi All,
I hadn't planned for it, but it's been a recording breaking week on ChocolateMission with 16 different products being reviewed over the last 6 days. Just in case you missed out on any of them - it all started with Hotel Chocolat's Everything Selection, then Milka's 2010 limited edition flavours, a Cadbury 'Bits n Bobs' post, Galler's Inventive Amandes Grillees, Hotel Chocolat's Sushi Collection and then lastly Friday culminated with a 'Bits n Bobs' Pocky Superpost.
Whilst this has been somewhat useful clearing the review backlog, further packages from the likes of Hotel Chocolat and Ritter Sport received this week will certainly be keeping me busy for the foreseeable future.
If you haven't been keeping an eye on my Twitter feed I suggest you take a look HERE. If you start following me or 'Retweet' one of my reviews this week you automatically get entered into a prize draw for a selection of Ritter Sport bars.
Thanks for all the comments and musings this week. They have certainly been very entertaining and I'm grateful for every one of them.
Have a great weekend.
JIM

You had me thinking yesterday you were going to post another review this weekend lol.
Thanks all of them this week jim they were great.
Omg i can't think of anything worse than a marmite chocolate bar. How horrid, lol I might buy it for my Dad as a joke, he can't stand marmite.
Dx
Some of those Divine chocolates sound nice don't they. I quite like the sound of chocolate brazil nuts and mangos.
Thanks for the posts this week, great effort posting so many of them it must have taken you ages to do.
I must remember to sign up to twitter so I can enter these comps you always talk about. What are you giving away this week? Anything worth signing up for ;)
Marmite and chocolate together? Is someone have a laugh?
That relaunch of penguin bars is utterly pathetic. Do they really think that people are going to be start buying them because they make some minor cosmetic changes and reduce them by 7 calories? That is so stupid.
Thanks for posting all that news jim there are some interesting ones in there. I've always thought they should do a bigger bubbly bar for galaxy because one of the normal size is never enough.
I laughed about the Green and Blacks being the coolest brand in the UK. For a start Dairy Milk beats it.
As much as I love marmite, I think I will just stick to having it on my toast with butter for now lol.
That must just be a complete gimmick to get some PR stuff for Marmite. I don't think it is supposed to be taken seriously, lol I hope not.
16 reviews is mighty impressive young man well done. My favourite this week was definitely your hotel chocolat sushi one. I think I'm going to have to buy myself some pralines later on when I'm going into town. Have a nice weekend lovely.
Rxxx
Jim this story had me chuckling. This guy lost loads of weight eating a diet of just chocolate :-) take a look
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1316480/Morbidly-obese-man-loses-200lbs-chocolate-diet.html
(sorry it's on the daily mail site. I hate the daily mail.)
Lol it was certainly a lot of different graphs this week :)
I think the best post was the pocky one but thats because I love pocky. If you can review some more soon that would be brill :)
Green & Black are no way the cooled food brand we have in the UK, thats just ridiculous saying that.
I can't think of a better one right now but straight away I thought Innocent Smoothies? They are very cool in my opinion.
What does everyone else think?
That is such a shame that Cadbury have dropped the glass and a half strapline. What I don't get is why they've stopped using it now? If you read that article it says they have been using it for over 75+ years?
Why have the EU thrown their toys out the pram now? It just seems stupid to me.
Oh well. Cheers for the reviews.
Jim Jim Jim! how do you fancy your chances playing Sunderland today then? We didn't even beat them at home last week it might be tricky?
We have Blackpool at home tomorrow, if you don't hear from me then I might have just thrown myself off a bridge lol I don't think I could take losing to them.
Anyways, Marmite chocolate sounds amazing :D I love my marmite. I'm a lover not a hater.
Some of those smaller obscure brands sound like they have come up with some cool ideas. That divine collection especially sounds quite exciting, I thought they were a pretty boring company most of them time but chocolate brazils and pralines sound awesome.
BTW Jim what is up with your hatred of Jamie Oliver? I think he's alright.
Jim are you going to be reviewing any of those halloween chocolates from Hotel Chocolat? It would be nice knowing your thoughts on the best dressed vampire and the miniature munchkins if you can. Both are of particular interest to me.
Don't worry Jim I'm over 40 and I like those kinder hippos. My kids always moan at each other for eating them all before the other can get to them. Lest they know it's actually their naughty mother he he,
What is your twitter name? I would love to enter your competitions? Do we have to do anything for it?
That was a heck of a lot of reviews this week J congratulations.
What I liked about most of them was the act we could actually have a chance of trying them all :) Even the Milka ones we can buy.
I don't see how the church can see this as ethically correct but even they are cashing in on easter now by the looks of it
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1316480/Morbidly-obese-man-loses-200lbs-chocolate-diet.html
I think it's wrong they are doing this.
Hi Jim have you got one of the new Kit kat senses yet? I'm still looking for it.
Well done on the reviews this week Jim, you really spoiled us :) I saw that thing about Green & Blacks and couldn't understand it either. I don't trust these surveys anyway (remember the Nestle one? 70% of people like white chocolate. really?!).
Cadbury dropping that slogan sounds a bit dodgy, it says they originally claimed Trading Standards was behind it and then backtracked when they said they didn't object. The cynical side of me can't thinks maybe they're trying to alter the amount of milk they put in or something. Or maybe they genuinely felt it was misleading. Hmm.
You certainly did cover a lot of chocolate this week, Jim...and the reviews were as good as ever. Thanks for the mention!
Thank you for another week of great reviews, you really spoiled us this time round. ;-)
Apparently Cadbury dropping the slogan was a "misunderstaning" due to labbeling changes for the EU...
http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/sectors/food-and-drink/cadbury-will-not-ditch-%E2%80%98glass-and-a-half%E2%80%99-slogan/3018686.article
And 7 calories less in Penguin Bars, wow, taht now really makes them a diet article! *g* According to the article they were "remformulated", in other words the recipe has changed a little? So maybe cheaper ingredients? Different taste? Just to drop 7 cals which make no difference whatsoever, unless you eat the whole 9 bars of the packet every day or somthing...
The idea of Marmite in chocolate really does sound rather weird at first. But the slight saltiness might actually by quite nice in chocolate. Being the curious person I am, I might give it a try.
Marmite chocolate sounds like something I need to try!
I really picked the week to save most of the reviews for a weekend read :D
I'm with Anne about trying Marmite chocolate just for the fun of it. Never again on its own though! (Marmite that is)
Hey Jim this was your best week of reviews ever in my opinion. Thanks so much for all the entertaining reviews.
So these new penguins are only 7 calories less? how stupid lol
@Anne - thats basically what the Daily Mail article said really - they werent dropping it completely just taking it off the bars.. but again it just seems silly.. I'm sure at one point it read 'a glass and a half of full cream milk in X g of milk chocolate' which seems fine to me! Why can't they just have both the new legal wording (with the ingredients say) and the traditional phrase somewhere else on pack?
Interestingly I noticed on the back of boxes of thorntons choc they use 3 different weights - grams, ounces and pounds!
@Alan what made me laugh is that normally these companies go for the 'below 100 calories' thing but Mcvities didn't even bother doing that. FAIL on their part I think.
Hi Everyone.
Thanks for the nice comments about the reviews this week. I was completely random that there were so many products reviewed this week. It was just by luck that there we so reviews which had multiple products in there.
Thanks to everyone who posted extra stories.
David, Anon, Henry, Rosa, Thea, Anne RE: Marmite Chocolate
I'm a bit of a marmite lover myself so this will get a review at some point. Of course it's going to be a 100% gimmick chocolate, but hey who cares about that! It will certainly be a fun review to write :D I can imagine it will split opinions. Look out for it soon :D
Nick, Tricky RE: Divine Chocolates
Again I'm certainly interested in reviewing some of those products. Divine have never been a favourite brand of mine but some of those products sound genuinely interesting I agree.
Steven, RE: Twitter Competitions
I'm giving away a few Ritter samples I have left over from a few of the reviews a while back. I think thats worth signing up for alone :D
Craig, Anne, Alan RE: Changes to the Penguin bars
The changes do look a little pathetic is has to be said. I'm pretty surprised they haven't tried do something a little more drastic to actually warrant a relaunch of some sort.
Lauren, Phil, Alan RE: Green & Black's the coolest food brand in the UK
Yeah that one did puzzle me a little as well. What about Hotel Chocolat? Dairy Milk? Mars? There are so many others I could mention here.
Mark,Alan RE: 'Glass and a half now taken off'
I have no clue why they would suddenly stop them using that line. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean anything, but it does come across as a complete waste of time for them to be looking in to now.
Phil - thats some good research there :D viewed in that light it seems a little cheeky by Cadbury to do that, but on the other hand it still seems petty for the EU to get worked up about it.
Anne - Haha I read the comments in order so I only just saw your input in to the argument :D Haha oh well. I will leave my thoughts there anyway! Don't trust the red top newspapers :D Nice work.
Nigel RE: Liverpool
Oh dear. I think I may have just lost myself a reader :D
Nick RE: Jamie Oliver
I don't know!? I've just never really like him myself. He comes across as quite arrogant and very pushy on his thoughts when it comes to saving the world from it's food troubles :D
Graeme RE: Hotel Chocolat Halloween reviews
Indeed I will be :D I reviewed the munchkins last year! Check the archives chap.
Tim RE: Have you got the new Kit Kat yet
Nope not yet. Still haven't seen it.
Alan RE: 'Interestingly I noticed on the back of boxes of thorntons choc they use 3 different weights - grams, ounces and pounds!'
That has to be one of the most random comments ever :D Those must be the products that they sell abroad in America aswell I guess?! Do they even sell in America?
Thanks for the comments on the reviews all this week everyone. I can't promise 16 products this week but I certainly have some interesting ones.
JIM
lol it may seem like that but it was talking about the Cadbury thing that remined me - ie a glass and a half in every half pound - i thought it unusual that thorntons put the imperial measurements aswell as metric :) they better be careful they'll have the EU on their back telling them not too! haha :P do they sell in the US? I think its like that on all their boxes.
