Marks & Spencer Milk Chocolate & Honeycomb Layered Cookies
Kcal 195 Fat 11.0g Fat(sats) 7.0g Carbs 21.9g'Biscuit topped with a milk chocolate truffle and honeycomb chip centre, coated in milk chocolate and topped with honeycomb chunks'
Don't these look a million dollars!! That's what I thought anyway when I first picked them up. Taking the plastic tray out of the cardboard box I was instantly impressed by both the aesthetic decoration of the cookies and the gorgeous smelling honeycomb scents that wafted over my senses. Just like I commented on the caramel variety review, my love for the outer decorative pieces was somewhat short lived when they proceeded to scatter themselves over my living room when I bit in to one of the cookies - in retrospect that was probably me just being careless.
I don't know quite where to start with the taste as it was such a mixture of tremendous flavours and textures. The biscuit base was deliciously buttery and had the smallest of salty notes that gave each mouthful a sinful moreishness. The truffle layer placed on top was the best thing about each of the cookies, and took the sweeter flavours of the milky outer chocolate to a greater cocoa richness. The honeycomb within the truffle layer luckily wasn't over portioned, which was lucky as the outer honeycomb created a very sweet initial flavour base alongside the milk chocolate. If I was pushed to make a choice I would probably still go for the caramel variety over these ones. Believe me though, these were still incredibly tasty cookies and I would buy them again.

Marks & Spencer White Chocolate & Lemon Crunch Layered Cookies
Kcal 200 Fat 11.0g Fat(sats) 7.1g Carbs 22.7g'Biscuit topped with a layer of lemon flavoured white chocolate truffle, coated in white chocolate with meringue pieces'
Had you asked me before trying then which of the three varieties I was the least keen on I would have told you it was these Lemon Crunch cookies. Sitting alongside the Honeycomb ones on the same £1.99 deal though, it made little sense not also giving them a review - I don't like to do things by halves you know ;)
Suffice to say I'm glad I decided to pick them up - they were sublime! Just like the other two the meringue pieces breaking away from the outer white chocolate was a minor annoyance but once I had the first bite in my mouth all attention was quickly diverted from the mess I was creating on keyboard to the sheer delightfulness developing in my mouth. The biscuit bases was consistent across all three so I needn't pass mention to how tasty it was again (woops I just did!). Before encountering the biscuit of course, I had to make my way through the outer white chocolate and lemon flavoured truffle centre - both of which were utterly fantastic. Despite the sugary lumps of meringue, the outer chocolate was more creamy than it was sweet, and it left a delicious vanilla note that lingered long in the mouth. Moving on to the truffle filling, well like the honeycomb cookies above it was the best thing about these cookies. It was outrageously creamy, and had a tart, citrus lemon twist that was just perfectly balanced with the other sweeter tasting components. These cookies were simply delectable - highly recommended.

I never shop at marks and spencers. We dont have one anywhere near us so its a little hard ever getting in one of their stores. From what I hear they make some great food though, it looks like I'm missing out with these cookies lol.
Stop posting such yummy stuff Jim. That picture of the top cookie has got me drooling all over the place :)
I wasn't expecting you to say the white chocolate ones were the best. Lemon and white choc does sounds like a really nice mix if it isn't too acidic.
Rxxx
The only cookies I ever eat are boring old Maryland cookies. If you ever review them please can you have a try of the hazelnut and chocolate chunky ones (they come in a purple pack). I think you might like them. Great review today but is anyone else having difficulty making out the photo of the white cookies? It might just be my comp.
Now Ive just familiarised myself with your previous write up of these mands cookies I think I would like the first one you did (caramel). Those ones look the nicest, then the honeycomb.
I don't think I would be keen on the white chocolate, they sound too much like lemon meringue pie which I hate.
Are there just two products in bits and bobs today :( that makes me sad.
They look and sound amazing.
My last experience with something that looked similar (pictures: 1 - box and 2 - inside)was not a very fortunate one, though - they also looked very pretty and the chocolate coating was not bad, but the cream in the centre was oily...
I think a trip to Marks & Spencer is in order for me soon. I had no idea that they made such incredible biscuits. I've never seen them in my local one before. Saying that I haven't been in it for a few months, this must be new I'm guessing.
Ack!!! If they hadn't put lemon in the white chocolate ones I would have been sold.
I just cant stand the taste of lemon in anything so that bit sorta ruins them for me. You might need to tone down the brightness on that white chocolate photograph of yours Jim, I can barely see it.
Jim these look great, nice reviews.
Have you heard that GU are bringing out a range of their own biscuits? I can't seem to find the article now but I definitely read somewhere online that they are. Can you review them when you see them.
Boy Jimmy you weren't far off with your prediction for last nights game :) That striker hernandes looks like he might be the real deal. Much better then Wayne Rooney lol.
My family dont shop in marks and spencer at all so I wouldn't ever see these. We did recently buy these things called whoopee pies from Tesco though. They were like chocolate sponge with cream in the middle, they were well nice.
Christ those are some high ratings, I wasn't expecting you to ever go that high for biscuits.
We don't cookies very often but when we do we just buy the fresh ones that they make in the supermarkets. They have started making some really lush toblerone ones that my mum buys in Asda I think. Lol me and my sis fight over them all the time.
I bought the honeycomb cookies a few weeks ago and I agree with you Jim they were very nice. When I bought them they weren't on any deal though, they were full whack £2.99 so it was sorta a situation where I was expecting them to be nice or I was going to be well annoyed lol.
I could have done without the chewy bits of honeycomb on top, they got stuck in my teeth annoyingly. The rest of them were indulgent. I add my recommendation to yours.
I think we must have less Mark & Spencers up north or something. When ever I visit relatives down south all they talk about is how amazing their food and all their adverts are?!?
Thanks for the bits n bob review Jim its great seeing them back after the absence last week :-)
I've not tried these biscuits yet but you have done a job selling them too me. I will try the honeycomb ones first I think because I'm not a fan of white chocolate. Thanks for the review.
This is slightly off topic but I had some of those trick or treat cadbury mini rolls Jim and they were brill like you said. The blackcurrant was so nice with the vanilla cream, I think they are my fave mini rolls ever. I will have to buy a few more packs before they take them away :) Thanks for the tip.
I would never normally choose white chocolate over milk or dark but those white chocolate biccies do sound so amazing. You would do a good job if you were a sales person you know. You have made me believe they are worth a try and I probably wouldn't have given them a second glance if I saw them in a shop. 8.7/10 tells me I should think otherwise lol.
I'm still gagging to try the caramel ones first but the honeycomb are tempting me equally as much now. Marks and Spencer have got so much better with their food in recent years. I always used to think they were a shop for old people but they seem to make some really exciting food stuff now.
I might even treat myself by going there for lunch today :P=-) Sorry Greggs.
@Steven maryland cookies are great and you get them for well cheap most the time. I nearly ate a whole packet of them the other day, my sister went mental when there was only two left when she went for one lol. Can you review them please Jim.
Moving on to the truffle filling, well like the honeycomb cookies above it was the best thing about these cookies. It was outrageously creamy, and had a tart, citrus lemon twist that was just perfectly balanced with the other sweeter tasting components. These cookies were simply delectable - highly recommended
Delectable? Delectable???? That is a new word for you lol ;)
Those white choc ones sound a little too nice, I might just have to test them myself to make sure you are telling us the truth ..... yep that reason alone.
Im not post enough to shop in marks and spencer but my mum does sometimes. I might put in a cheeky request with her to buy these if she can find them. She never seems to be able to get what I ask her for when she goes shopping though, I think she might just be being tight.
Henry are these the GU things you are talking about? lol they came up on google when I tried searching for them
http://www.marketingmagazine.co.uk/news/1036872/GU-targets-grown-ups-in-store-cookies/
They look well nice.
That is bloody expensive for just four biscuits don't you think? If you had to share them with anyone they would be gone before you would know it.
They don't look like something that is worth £3 to me.
If you think their cookies are good you need to try their decorated cupcakes. They taste amazing and look uber cute.
Its too early to be looking at cookies this early in the morning =) You got me all hungry now.
I never shop in marks and spencer but if im missing out on cookies like these I may have to rethink where I do my top up shops lol. I dont think I have pocket deep enough to do my weekly shop in there but I could probably afford to go there from time to time. Thank you so much for another fab review. Im going to have to go grab myself a tea and biscuit now lol.
The price is verging on the ridiculous but I can't deny that they don't look great. Fancy cakes and cookies seem to be the way to go with all the supermarkets at the moment. I keep seeing increasing numbers of fancy muffins and biscuits being produced by them. I would of thought they would have stripped everything back to basics what with the economic situation.
i'm not normally a biscuit or cakes sort of person but you got my attention with these layered cookies :) I think my g/f would love the white chocolate ones but for me it has to be the honey ones all the way. I think a stop by M&S is in order on the way home now.
I am delighted to see more reviews of M&S products.
These sound very good, I think I will try and get the lemon ones.
You are great Jim, keep up the good work - I visit this site every day.
Brilliant review I am going to have to stop by marks and spencer to buy some of these now to try. Lol I dont think I will be bringing them in for my work people though. I think they would snif them out and munch them within seconds. Cheers Jim.
The honeycomb cookies reminded me of the Cadbury Crunchie biscuits I got at the weekend. The kids loved them but I thought the crunchie bit could have been dialled up a bit more.
I love the marks and spencers review btw. If you are planning to do more you could always review their walnut whops. They are very good.
Wow, 2 very high scoring products in 1 review, that doesn't happen all that often! Great review Jim and it's nice to see M&S being consistently high. Just a shame I have no M&S store near by, as all of these biscuits sound sublime! I don't think I could say which variety I would prefer, maybe a different 1 for whatever type of hot drink I have at the time (or 1 of each with each drink ;))
These both loo really nice, next time I'm in M&S, which isn't all that often unfortnately lol I'll have to look out for these. I'd prob go for the caramel and the lemon, but they all sound very nice. What is their mnormal price or are they normally £1.99?
Hi All,
I thought today would be a nice midweek change of pace from all the chocolate bare reviews of the last few days. Thanks for all the requests and nice comments about the pictures etc. It's not exactly a secret that I love M&S so I'm more than willing to review any more products of theirs that people want to see. Just drop me a request with what you are after.
The questions are pretty light today but there seems to be a lot of you considering trying these now which is great to hear. All your views are most welcome of course :D
David - Re: Not living near an M&S
Join the club. When I moved town I moved to a place that doesn't have a local M&S store. had I known I wouldn't have moved haha :D
Rachel - Re: Lemon and white choc does sounds like a really nice mix if it isn't too acidic
Spot on. my thoughts exactly.
Steven / Ryan - Re: Maryland Cookies
More than happy to review them given the volume of requests. I will buy some on my way home infact :D
Ana - Re: Your comment
Oh no those look like they should be nice. I don't like the sound of an oily cream centre at all. That actually sounds pretty disgusting now you mention it.
Golden - Re:'this must be new I'm guessing'
Newish - they have been out for about a month now.
Tricky - Re:'You might need to tone down the brightness on that white chocolate photograph of yours Jim, I can barely see it.'
Apologies I do try my best though. it is horrendously difficult getting the levels of brightness correct on the white chocolate pictures.
Henry / David - RE: GU cookies
I hadn't seen them yet thanks for bringing them to my attention. Unfortunately it looks like they are only being made in Asda which is no good to me. There isn't an Asda near me for miles.
Nigel - Re:'Boy Jimmy you weren't far off with your prediction for last nights game'
Only the one goal off. Better luck next time :D
Paul - Re: those are some high ratings, I wasn't expecting you to ever go that high for biscuits.
Trust me they were well worth it. I highly recommend them to be honest.
Lauren - Re: Your comment
It's great to hear you enjoyed them as much as I did. It is always nice hearing that my recommendations are shared by others sometimes ... haha there is someone else to share the blame if someone doesn't happen to like it haha.
Graeme - Re:'When ever I visit relatives down south all they talk about is how amazing their food and all their adverts are?!?'
The adverts are pretty brilliant. They create a massive amount of talkability for them.
Emma - Re: Trick or Treat Mini Rolls
Haha I am stockpiling one pack already. They are easily the best Mini Rolls that Cadbury have made.
Duncan - Re: M&S Lunch
I used to buy my lunch everyday from M&S back in my old job. Their sandwiches are so much better than the likes of Greggs, Boots etc.
Katie - Re:'I might just have to test them myself to make sure you are telling us the truth'
All in the name of fairness eh!? Are you sure you don't just want to get some for yourself :D
John - Re:' I might put in a cheeky request with her to buy these if she can find them. She never seems to be able to get what I ask her for when she goes shopping though'
Perhaps you need to start being nicer to her :D buy her some flowers or feed her some chocolate ... it works with my mum :D
Richard - Re: Price
I love your dedication to price everyday :D You are the Martin Lewis of this website :D The only thing I will say is that you should try these before you say they aren't worth it.
Katie - Re:'Thank you so much for another fab review. Im going to have to go grab myself a tea and biscuit now lol'
Thank you for reading more like. It seems I got quite a few of you guys reach for the biscuit tins today haha.
Dave - Re:'I keep seeing increasing numbers of fancy muffins and biscuits being produced'
I think that designer cupcakes and biscuits are in the 'in' thing at the moment. Especially cupcakes! I keep seeing nicely decorated ones all over the place now. Welcome to the site btw :D Please stick around.
Roger - Re: Your Comment
Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the site. I have a few more Marks & Spencer products in my review backlog you will be pleased to hear. There will be an extra special Halloween product featuring on Saturday even :D Thanks for the comment and please do make sure you come back.
Linda - re:'If you are planning to do more you could always review their walnut whops'
I'm guessing you mean Walnut Whips? I'm more than happy to give them a review when I can. Be on the look out for it.
Ria - Re: Your comment
Thank you it is nice knowing that one of my frequent readers and contributors is enjoying the reviews :D It is so annoying not living near an M&S isn't it :( Believe me I share your pain. One way to look at it I guess is that it seems all the more special when you are able to go there.
Alan - Re: Your comment
They are normally priced at £2.99 I think. Saying that they have been launched for a month now and I haven't seen them budge from the £1.99 mark yet ... perhaps it is just a sneaky hook by them :D If you get the chance to try them I would do so. They are brilliant.
Thanks for the comments everyone. Tomorrow we have a special midweek post from our pals at Hotel Chocolat :D They got knocked off the Monday slot by the Kit Kat Senses Caramel Cream. I look forward to hearing from you all.
JIM
These biscuits are not good - all too sweet and sickly. You could only eat one of each and even that's a bit much. You only get 4 in a packet and they aren't cheap, they are high in fat and calories. My advice is don't bother!
