This is too much! Review overload mate!

I don't know where to start with all of these. The crackers are brilliantly random :) I've not seen you review anything like them before lol. I'm liking the look of that coffee slice from heavenly aswell. I am getting v v tempted to sneak an order in.

The hotel chocolat christmas crackers look so good lol. I dont think I would be able to resist from tucking in to the chocolate half way through my Christmas dinner though lol. I'm not sure what my mother would make of that.

It was a really good idea to do some round up things like this. One last hard sell for Christmas time for you Im guessing ;)

I know this is completely insignificant but you can get that Cadbury tube thing full of Dairy Milk for just £1 in Tesco. I saw it reduced with all the malteser and galaxy ones yesterday and bought 3.

Terrific review mate. I would have liked to have seen what you scored the cappuccino cake thing but by the sounds of things I think we can fathom it would have done very well. These are the top people for Christmas in my book.

Eugh I should be careful what I wish for. I can sense my credit card starting to yelp in my handbag again :P

Thank you for putting this together Jim. Next time I wont ask you to do something so potentially costly for me :P

What a 'Cracking' post this one is ;)

I was looking at those crackers on the hotel chocolat site the other day and I thought they looked mega expensive. I think for a pack it is something like £30. Too rich for my blood, but yeah they do look pretty awesome I have to say.

I cant stop looking at that cappuccino cake. Is that biscuit all along the bottom? It reminds me of Tiffin but without the fruit.

I love Nestle's insignificant contribution at the end LOL. I had to laugh at how pathetic it looks compared to both the HC's, I know which I would prefer to open up this Christmas.

If anyone wants to buy me a chunk of that cappuccino cake I would love you forever :-) It looks so so good.

Brilliant reviews Jim very useful. I am doing all my online shopping tomorrow night so you have given me a lot of food for thought over the next 24 hours. My main conundrum is my hotel chocolat order. There are so many good looking things I dont know what to buy :S None of them are cheap either, I have to get it right. Thank you for your suggestions.

Anonymous said...

How much are the Kit Kats? If they are cheaper than normal that would be swell.

This review went on and on and on and on Lmao!!!! It was a great read from start to finish though Jim, one of your best of the year I think.
Its a bit much taking it all in, but my initial thoughts are

Heavenly Cakes - YUM!!!!!
Hotel Chocolat - I wish I could afford them for my dinner table.
Cadbury / Nestle - boooooring!

Great reviews.

Andrew said...

That heavenly cake looks so good I cant take my eyes off it. Will you one day review it properly so we can get a score of it? I would be interested to see how it compares to all of the other ones you have reviewed so far. I think I might have to rethink holding off my order until the new year. Its hard resisting when I have things like that put in front of me.

Are you just trying to sell us this stuff or do you genuinely think that these are the best things to buy this Christmas? I personally think you would have to be mental to pay that much for a bunch of xmas crackers. I leave the stuff like that for my mum to buy.

This is just unfair. Normally I cant deal with the temptation you cause when you write about just one of heavenly cakes or hotel chocolat, but having both on the same day is just cruel :P

Its sad the only thing out of all these I will probably have is the santa claus Kit Kat. Lol I actually bought one by mistake at the weekend. I didn't even realise it was santa shaped, I just wanted a small KK.

Ryan said...

Thanks for putting this together Jim its very useful to have all the different things available to us congregated in one place. Its a few days late for me (I did most my online stuff at the weekend) but I feel more confident about my purchases now that Hotel chocolate make it in your buyer guide :-) Well done mate.

Terry said...

Where are the Milka represented in this? They would be my recommendation for this Christmas. I think Milka is going to get bigger and bigger in the Uk in the next few years. I want to set down a marker with people as the person that introduced that to it.

Henry said...

Is it me or do the Japanese chocolates look like the most random assortment of things ever :D Some of the chocs do look well interesting though! That strawberry filled cup thing looks intriguing. What are they called jim? Are they the Chopan things?

Ben said...

Did you ever find out if Heavenly Cakes are still taking orders? I know that Hotel Chocolat are only doing so for a few more days. Im so worried about the snow coming down again and not getting stuff through. It would be a disaster to spend all my money and not have stuff arrive.

Luke said...

That is just too many delicious looking things for one day. What are you trying to do to us man :)

In all seriousness thank you. I had been waiting for you to do a round up one like this for us. I just cant believe it is the 14th already. I haven't done any of my xmas shopping yet, I will have to start today :) First stop Hotel Chocolat online! I think my wallet should be sufficiently lighter after that.

Nigel said...

I hate to say I told you mate ..... BUT I TOLD YOU SO!!

I knew Man U would beat Arsenal. What I didn't envisage was Arsenal being so lame. It was like they didn't even bother turning up. Enough with this football nonsense lol.

Wow what an awesome set of reviews Jim. The cappuccino cake is the one that had chaught my eye on the numerous times I have been on their site, its good to get your top recommendation that it is decent. I will have to treat myself to it one day.

I lol'd at the crackers when I saw them. Like David says I think that is one of your most random reviews ever.

The others are just random objects aren't they? They would make nice cheap gifts I think,. especially the cracker of cadbury choc, yummy.

Rob said...

My top picks would be the Lindt santas and reindeers you can get. I bought a basket full of them from the supermarket last night. I think they are just perfect to give away as gifts. People think the chocolate is good and they look pretty awesome as well. Top present material imo.

Estelle said...

If both heavenly cakes and hotel chocolat were cheaper I would buy them both for all my friends and family. Sadly I think I will have to choose the cheaper things like the kit kat and the cadbury thing this year. I just cant afford to push the boat out on things like this unfortunately. Its a real shame cause the cakes and crackers look amaze.

When will the yummy pictures of heavenly cakes stop? This is just torture for me.

Well duh! I think we can tell that by the sexual photos dummy.

'Ribbon-tied and ready to finish off your carefully laid table in style. And being filled with premium Christmas chocolates, there’s not a novelty toy in sight!

Crappy toy or tasty chocolate??? Hmmmmmm why has no one thought of this before lol.

Sam said...

How did Pocky not make it in your top recommended? I thought they would have been a certain one to feature for anything from Japan.

Rosa said...

I NEED ME SOME OF THOSE CRACKERS!

Lewis said...

Well this isn't helpful is it lol. I was hoping a post like this would narrow things down for me but if anything you have just made me aware of even more things I could buy.

Ack I have some hard decisions to make over the next few days. My Hotel Chocolat order is going to be very complicated. I think I might end up just making a special trip to one of their stores this weekend to get sorted out. I'm hearing bad things about the royal mail going on strike again.

Phil said...

The cappuccino cake and Meiji look lovely, but the Dairy Milk and Kitkat are a bit too plain for Christmas in my opinion. I would love those Hotel Chocolat crackers but fear how much they'd cost. I'm sure I saw on the news that shops have to ask for ID when you buy crackers now, how silly is that?

My christmas recommendation would be the Mr Kipling rum & raisin slices. Morrisons currently have them on offer.

Eeek I still have christmas shopping to do! I'm gonna go to Hotel Chocolat and get some of their small bars to give as mini gifts.

Lee said...

Awesome guide Jim very useful. I dont like coffee cake but that one looks insane. The white choc on top is a fine idea.

Ria said...

Was hoping for a BnB today but this surpasses that! Heavenly Cakes, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Hotel Chocolat, KitKat and some Japanese all in one post, doubt anything will top that but sure hope you try.

Out of all of these, the one I'm most keen on trying is the Heavenly Cakes one although the others all look tempting too. The Dairy Milk is a bit uninspired if I were to be looking for something Christmassy. The KitKat would be a sure buy if it was Chunky size but I'll prob still pop one in my basket just for the sake of it. Thanks again for another great review. Wonder what tomorrow will have in store, part 2 perhaps?

Paul said...

Thanks for the guide Jim. Its awesome seeing what is out there, I think its good that there is too much not too little myself. It just means whatever I end up buying should be good.

btw did your old geezer do the pictures for the cake and crackers? They look like his sort of work lol.

Phillip said...

Man you know how to spoil us mate. I never thought I would see the day where we see Hotel Chocolat and Heavenly Cakes in the same review :) Gr8 work Jim.

Adam said...

It will be a mixture of Hotel Chocolat and cadburys on my list this year.

I've asked for a pack of the white chocolate slabs and I'm just assuming I will get a usual cadburys variety pack (tradition!).

I wouldn't half mind one one of those cakes whilst they are at it mind ;) Cor blimey its a beast.

Hi All,

Time is short and there aren't many specifics today so I wont wate anyones time by responding individually.

Thanks for all the nice comments about the buyers guide today. I thought some people might think it was a bit cheeky what with the placed adverts, but I think you will know that my recommendations are genuine.

There are going to be three parts to my total buyers guide split over the next crazy 11 days so watch out for them. Today I focused more on the online retailers with ordering time drawing in. Next it will be highstreet recommendations, and then lastly it will be the PANIC BUY last few days options :D I thought this would be an appropriate way to go about things.

Thanks again for all the positive comments etc. It's hard to really think that there are only ten days to go until Christmas. It does make you wonder where the time goes doesn't it!?

As I said I wont respond individually today as it's mostly people leaving pleasantries (thank you much appreciated!!).

Nick - I'm not on the 'hard sell', these are genuine recommendations and examples of great products by these brands.

Richard - Thanks Richard that is always handy knowing where the bargains are.

Steven - The base of it is like tiffin cake yes. A mixture of digestive biscuits and chocolate.

Anon - I believe the Kit Kats are line priced with the originals. That will depend on where you buy from.

Andrew - Sorry about the lack of score but no I wont be reviewing it again unless people really desperately need to see it. Like I said in the post it was as good as any other Heavenly Cakes so you can safely assume a high rating.

Mysterio - I suggest you read my note above.

Terry - Milka aren't represented today but who knows about Part 2 or 3 eh :D ??

Henry - Indeed they are the Chopan. This may be of interest to you here http://www.chocolatemission.net/2010/05/may-9th-meiji-chopan-assort-strawberry.html

Ben - Yes I said at the weekend that Heavenly Cakes are still taking orders until the 17th! Get them in quick whilst you can still use the discount chap.

Nigel - That was a tense game last night. I wasn't happy at all with Rooney missing that penalty. Oh well we won eh!? That is all that matters! Its looking good at the top of the league :D

Estelle - As corny as it sounds it really is all about the thought at the end of the day.

Katie - I've not thought about chocolate crackers before. Mind they dont melt on hot plates haha!

Sam - I still highly rate Pocky. Those were just some awesome chocolates I have had from J-list lately.

Phil - Sorry I had to pick up on this ... you get asked ID for crackers? What on earth!? You and Anne have been talking about those cakes so much I have a little surprise for you in Part 2 :D I wouldn't worry about not having your shopping done. The best people always leave it until last minute ... that is what I'm telling myself anyway haha!

Ria - Thanks for glowing report :D I do really value your opinion. Tomorrow will bring a review some sort :D I'm just rushing to get everything done at the moment ... the work/life/chocolatemission balance is all over the place at the moment. I can't waite until Christmas Eve.

Paul - My old man can take credit for the Hotel Chocolat crackers (surprise surprise!) but the rest were done by me.

Phew I hope I managed to pick out all the questions. Its days like these I feel I need an assitant :D Its great hearing from you all again, your nice comments are what keep me powering on.

Believe it or not there are Christmas Chococlate reviews coming tomorrow. Swing by, check it out :D
