Hi All,
Thanks to all of you who submitted your votes for the ChocolateMission 2010 Readers Choice Award. Votes are being counted and verified :D and the post announcing the award winners will be up on the site on the 19th of February.
In the mean time I'm sure you all want to know who the lucky winners of the Ritter Sport chocolates are. Well I can reveal that ....
Ryan Stockhurst, Dorset UK
Fiona Matten, Cardiff UK
Steven Ferris, Windsor UK
Have all won. Congratulations to you guys. I will be sending out an e-mail asking you for your addresses so please respond ASAP.
Thank you to everyone who sent me their votes. There were some very kind responses in there. There will be plenty of more chocolate being given away in the next few weeks so don't worry if you haven't won today.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my reviews of all the new products this week. I certainly enjoyed writing them up. More exciting stuff to come next week of course - I hope you all take the time to visit.

Valentines Day 2011 is coming ....

It may still be two weeks away, but you can never be too prepared for Valentines Day :D Just as a little teaser I thought I would drop in these photos of the Hotel Chocolat Valentines Ribbon Tied Selection. This little box consisted of 8 chocolates - five chocolate hearts (more on that in a minute!), and two praline chocolates (pictured) that you will have seen reviewed before in previous selections.
I've resisted doing a full on review for these, as I was also the lucky recipient of a Hotel Chocolat Melting Hearts H-Box (a larger version box of these!), a product I will be reviewing for you next week. In the mean time, why don't you head on over to Hotel Chocolat and get your orders in early.

I can't wait for your full review for the melted hearts. Knowing HC they will put their fair share of pralines and everything in there. Have a nice wk end love.
Rxxx
Seriously what is up with Nestle? A reissued Kit Kat now hey? Its funny how all of their 'new' products aren't actually 'new' at all. I've never seen anything like this before.
Aww dammit no ritter chocolate for me again booooooo. Whens your next competition going to be?
@Midgley44
I like your tease for next weeks Hotel Chocolat review but I could have sworn you have reviewed the HC heart chocolates last year. Are they much different?
I'm never going to win one of these comps am I :( I've been reading this site for two years now and entered countless amounts of them.
You must get more entries than I think you get. No one can be as unlucky as I am.
Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong place but can you review the new Thorntons cookies please. We had some at work yesterday and I thought they were sublime. Make sure you try them please Jim.
If I was ever going to buy a Cadbury selection box I would always just buy the Milk Tray. I don't see the point in them making those two. Unless you say they are really nice I can't see myself ever buying them. You can be the guinea pig for us Jim. I'm willing to guess they will just disappoint.
Hey Jim,
I wont be leaving you any footie predictions this week because Liverpool aren't playing after you guys cheated us out the last round of the FA cup :P Lol i'm only joking around with you mate. I think Man U will beat Southampton 3-0, it could be tougher than you think though, I hear they have some handy youngsters.
What do you think of our new guy Suarez?
Well done with the reviews this week mate. They were all awesome.
Does anyone know if that Kit Kat is permanently replacing the normal dark one?
I like it as it is at the mo. I think 70% might be too strong for my taste. I do hope they just keep it the same.
Well done to the people that won your competition, I'm only a wee bit jealous :P .... ok ok I'm a lot jealous.

Have all won. Congratulations to you guys. I will be sending out an e-mail asking you for your addresses so please respond ASAP.
Congratulations you people. Lol tell us who you voted for when the votes come out I really want to know who everyone picked to win.
Jim how many submissions did you get?
You have to stop posting pictures of Hotel Chocolat chocolates and putting sneak ads in there. I can't help but have a browse.
Anyone tried the original Krave cereal yet? Its my new fave cereal, I can't get enough of it.
I don't think I will be buying that new flavour anytime soon. I think it would just be the same as the normal one but without the nuts. The nutty bit is why its so good. It makes them taste like they have nutella inside.
I said this at Xmas and he didn't disappoint, but if my b/f doesn't get me Hotel Chocolat chocs for Valentines day he is so dumped lol.
The melting hearts selection looks perfect. If you confirm they are good I will let him know they are what I want :-)
Dx
WINNNNNNNNER
I WON I WON!!!!!
Thank you so much Jimbo. Sorry for the ungracious celebration lol. I'm just so happy I love Ritter. I will send you an e-mail right now.
Lol the new kk advert is brill :D
They always make well good ones. Some of the best were the ones with monty in)
p.s. Speaking of adverts Jim have you see the new ones promoting the new Nestle sharing bags? You posted a news thingy about them last week rememeber.
I know we all thought there was nothing new about them but they have now made Milkybar buttons in a 'Big' form. They could be worth a review if you get the time mate.
Where are the awards? You said last week they were coming today.
Hmph yet another unsucessful competition entry #crys#
A proper dark chocolate kit kat AT LAST! Bring it on I say. Let's hope it's good quality cocoa they use. As its Nestle this might be too much to ask lol.
I thought you might want to see this after your hot choc reviews yesterday fella http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=independentarticle&ID=215470
When will you be giving us part two? Yesterdays was so awesome.
Congrats to Ryan, Fiona and Steven. Let us all know what chocolates you get you lucky peeps.
God give us a break Nestle. Do you guys not think its just going to be the same crappy 70% dark chocolate they used for the Aero?
They must have bought a whole lot of it and can't sell it or something.
Valentines Day :( Its one thing after another at the moment.
Christmas cost me a bomb, then it was my girlfriends birthday in Jan and now your telling me its Valentines day in 2 weeks. Seriosuly my wallet is crying. I hope she isn't expecting Hotel Chocolat again. I know the chocolate is in a league of its own but there is only so much a guy can afford here.
@Daisy no offence but I'm so glad I'm not your boyfriend.
A friend had just very kindly sent me some Canadian Kit Kat 70% and if the UK ones are as nice, I will be pleased!
Aww dammit no ritter chocolate for me again booooooo. Whens your next competition going to be?
Congrats to the winners :) And thanks for the credit Jim.
Speaking of Hotel Chocolat I was in there yesterday, and finally found the white chocolate praline bars, but in miniature form. Very tasty. I also had some cinnamon pralines which were very good, and a white chocolate and pecan cookie bar which was nice.
@David - Haha I agree. First the "new" Aeros and now the Kitkat.
Jim those new Cadbury boxes look identical to these Milka ones - look at these
http://www.worldofsweets.de/Themen/Valentinstag/Milka-I-love-Milka-Pralin-s.html
Do you think this is the work of Kraft starting to shine through?
Congratulations to the winners! :D
@Paul reading the article it sounds like they are replacing the 60% with the 70%. Whether this will actually prove a good move or not will remain to be seen. 70% may just be too strong for mass 'everyday' consumers.
Those new Cadbury boxes look lovely, although perhaps having more flavours in each may have been better I dont know. The Kraft influence maybe coming through with these looking at the Milka box lol. At least theyre bringing out new and interesting things. Take note: Nestle and Mars UK!The last time Nestle or Mars brought out a new box of chocolates was..oh.. when was it??
The last new box of chocolates from Mars that i remember was a Galaxy one years ago, with a slidey lid which was cool but probably didnt match consumer appeal :(
Well done Jim's Chocolate Missionheads comp winners :). The Hotel Chocolat Melting Hearts look soo scrummy - looking forward to the review Jim! x
This is an interesting one:
10 Facts you didn't know about chocolate
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/markets/8278089/From-aphrodisiac-to-currency-Ten-facts-about-chocolate.html
My favourite one is this "- Chocolate is made from the seeds of the tropical cacao tree, officially known as Theobroma Cacao, which in Greek, literally means 'food of the gods'."
That couldn't be more true.
I only just clocked that 'chocolate drought article' :-( These are worrying times folks.
Lush pics for the Hotel Chocolat mini box.
Can you just tell us what flavoured hearts you get in there? Is the selection big or small and are they all different?
Well done to the three winners. What chocolates are they getting Jim?
@Tricky Lol sorry mate but I had to laugh at your unfortunate sequence of events. You must be feeling the pinch.
@Alan I would think that most people wont even think that the new kit kat is any different to what they had before. They will likely just think its an updated wrapper lol.
@Jeff That page is well interesting. I would query how they know that chocolate has been made for that long though.
The new kit kat video is very clever. It doesn't make me want to buy myself a kit kat though. I just think its funny.
Three reviews a week isn't enough. We want more!!!!!!!!!
@David I know what you mean but I think quite alot of people would notice a difference, afterall there is a difference between 60% dark and 70% dark when you eat it. Like the 70% dark aero Jim reviewed, as a % its bordering on not being 'friendly' but maybe too bitter.
Hi All
I hope you have all had cracking weekends.
There were some interesting news articles this week weren't there. I wouldn't worry about the chocolate shortage being claimed to happen in 2014 :D We are a long way away from that yet.
Rachel - I only just got the samples this week so I'm still making my way through the Melting Hearts Box. I think the post should be up next weekend.
Kim - I did review a melting hearts box last year, but there selection has changed a lot since then.
David - It's not a new concept, but I don't recall us ever having a 70% Kit Kat before. They have seemingly just nicked the idea from Canada.
Various Anonymous/Tim - I'm not sure when exactly the next competition will be. Your best bet is to keep an eye on Twitter. I give things away randomly on there all the time.
Ashley - There is a request page chap but no problem. I will try see if I can get hold of those cookies.
Nigel - The United game was tighter than I expected but we got through I guess which is all that matters. I think Suarez is a good player but I think he was bought to play alongside Torres. Now Torres is leaving it still leaves you a striker short in my opinion.
Katie - If you don't like seeing the Hotel Chocolat photos you better not log on the site next weekend. My old man did the photography for the melting hearts box - I think they look pretty good myself.
Darren - I haven't tried the Krave cereal yet no. I don't really like cereals like that. I'm more of a porridge or bran flakes man myself.
Daisy - Haha I rememebr you saying that. I really hope for the sake of his health that he goes the HC route for his present.
Steven - Well done Steven. Remember to send along your address so I can get the chocolates across.
Joe - I think I know which one you mean. Is that the one on the putting green? I will have a look out for the Milkybar Giant Buttons, I haven't seen the advert yet.
JK - The awards will be given on the weekend of February 19th.
Golden - I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same stuff they used on the Aero 70% dark. I hope not to be honest, it wasn't great.
Justin - Nice find with that article chap. Part 2 should follow very shortly, Im just putting the final touches on to it.
Tricky - :D I'm not surprised your bank account is feeling the strain chap. That is a lot of stuff to have to buy for just after Christmas.
Gareth - So you liked it then? That sounds a lot more promising. I will be keeping my eyes open in my local shops to see if I can get one asap.
Phil - There aren't many things finer than Hotel Chocolat's white praline slabs. Its good to hear that you rate it as highly as I do by the sounds of things.
Andrew - That is interesting. You are right, both of the new Cadbury boxes look exactly like two products that Milka have done for years. I think it is too similar for it to be a conincedence. You could well be ight, this could be one of the first products we have seen that have had the Kraft treatment.
Alan - Please don't tempt Nestle into 'relaunching' black magic or dairy box please :D I think we have all had enough of them for a lifetime :D As for Mars I still to this day haven't been able to buy one of the Galaxy Jewells boxes. I would love to give them a review.
Jeff - Haha I knew absolutely none of the facts in that article. I agree with you though, it is the food of the gods :D Nice find.
David - I really wouldn't worry yourself about the drought :D I think we will all run out of money before we run out of chocolate haha!
Becci - There are many different flavours in the Melting Hearts this year. You will have to wait until next week to find out what they are though haha :D
Kevin - I will be sending them various Ritter Sport bars. Some winter sorten, some espresso and some Spring 2011 bars I have left over from the reviews.
Mysterio - Believe me that is the problem with half the ads that get produced these days. I see enough of them working where I do :D
Thanks for the comments folks. I'm just sorting out the post schedule for next week. It looks like we have some selection boxes and bits n bobs reviews coming up.
JIM
Haha well considering the mess they seem to make of these 'relaunches' (or any launches) these days they don't need any help :P I still quite like both varieties of those though, but thought them bettr in the past!
I'll keep my eyes open again for those Galxy Jewels and send you a box if I ever come across them again :)
