February 21st: Cadbury SpotsVStripes The Big Race

Kcal 265 Fat 15.1g Fat(sats) 8.0g Carbs 29.3g (per 50.0g bar)

On your marks ... Get set ... GO!!! Phase 2 of Cadbury's SpotsVStripes campaign starts today with the National launch of the Cadbury SpotsVStripes The Big Race bar. Last week I was approached by the Cadbury's SpotsVStripes Twitter feed team, who asked me if I wanted a sneak preview of this latest 'The Big Race' project. Of course I didn't turn them down, and just a few days later I was the recipetent of a jam packed press release pack containing: 3 x 'The Big Race' bars, 1 x pen, 1 x SpotsVStripes playing cards, 2 x bookmarks and lastly a wad of papers containing all the information I needed to know about 'The Big Race' campaign (so I thought).
So what is 'The Big Race' all about then? Well to be totally honest with you, despite the wealth of documentation included in my PR pack, I still don't 100% know. From what I can gather, each Big Race bar includes a code on the inside of the wrapper that you have to enter at www.spotsvsstripes.com/bigrace. This is unfortunately where details get a bit sketchy - 'Who's the fastest? Race for your team using the code inside the wrapper' is the single bit of information given on the wrapper. I'll save you all from my marketing spiel about how this ambiguity wont prompt your average consumer to take part in this competition, for my response to your comments.

Lets talk about more important things - 'The Big Race' bar itself! Described as 'Crispy wafer with cocoa creme and biscuit pieces with Cadbury milk chocolate', it at least sounded like a totally new bar for the UK market and credit must be given to Cadbury for making something a lot more interesting than their first Cadbury SpotsVStripes offering. Praise must also be given to Cadbury for not skimping on the size of the bar, which was a sizeable 50.0g despite it's heavy wafer constituents. Taking the bar out of it's wrapper, my mind was immediatedly cast back to my experience with the Cadbury Tokke (a bar I bought from Spain - See HERE). The unbranded, single piece bar didn't strike me as being British made, indeed a quick check of the wrapper revealed the words 'made in the EU for Cadbury Bournville, Birmingham' (NOTE: Currently awaiting information from SpotsVsStripes as to where it was made).
You may have already picked up on the absence of the words 'Dairy Milk' so far in this review, and unfortunately I can confirm that for the second SpotsVStripes bar it was once again MIA. The chocolate that coated the bar was instantly recogniseable as Cadbury with it's sugary, milky taste, but again one couldn't help but be disappointed with the lacking cream based taste and thick textural feel of Cadbury's lead recipe. On a more positive note, the textural interplay of the four core constituents - the outer chocolate, wafer, cocoa cream and biscuit pieces, was delightful and made for an interesting variety of mouth feel sensations. Flavourwise I was hoping for a little more from both the wafer and cocoa creme layers, as they only added minor notes of malt and sugar respectivelly. There was however, a far more telling contribution from the small biscuit pieces which offered the desired flavour progression in the form of some buttery shortcake flavour bursts.

Overall whilst this bar is undoubtedly superior compared to the first SpotsVStripes offering, it is one that I feel could have been made even better with just a few minor adaptations. The lack of Dairy Milk chocolate is a particular sore point for me. The last couple of new Cadbury products I have tried recently have been lacking Cadbury's leading chocolate recipe, and I really hope this isn't a trend that will continue in the future - just give us your best chocolate guys!!! Another slight disappointment for me were the layers of wafer, which have to be said were not only light in texture, but also light in the flavour department. The things that I think the bar did well were that although not being Dairy Milk, the Cadbury chocolate was still altogether tasty and the biscuit pieces ensured that the overall taste was at least progressive to some degree. As far as the total 'The Big Race' campagin goes I will have to reserve judgement until I can fully scope out the construct of the project. Now it's over to you guys - what do you make of 'The Big Race'? Most importantly what do you make of the bar? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I know you don't like cadburys' white chocolate but I think the average person wont like this one as much as the first Spots and Stripes bar they came up with.

The last one looked a lot more exciting than this one does, it at least had two types of chocolate. This for all the world just appears to be one huge chunk of wafer with a few bits of biscuit. hmmmm I will reserve full judgement until I try it.

Steven_F said...

I only heard about this new bar on Friday how the hell have you got one and written a review about it already? Lol I do wonder sometimes if you really do work for some of these companies lol. You always, and I mean always, manage to get these things before us joe public.

Daisy said...

Jim you meanie why would you not inform us about this sooner :P You must get all the inside knowledge you should share it with us more often. Either you like to keep your secrets or you didn't think it was worth telling us about lol.

Dx

David said...

Well well. I wasn't expecting to see this appear so soon.

It looks nice enough to me. Nothing too outside the box in terms of thinking but I'm sure it will be nice enough.

Pete said...

Wicked. Its always nice to see the latest chocs cadburys come up with :) I look forward to trying this one, do you know when we will all be able to buy it?

Kim S said...

Woohoo good to see a new review up. Its felt like years since last Wednesday. I know you posted 5 reviews in one but honestly mate don't leave it that long between reviews again. I was disappointed everytime I came on and there anything new content up.

Golden_Touch said...

Lol Cadbury are such muppets sometimes. It looks like they put all their efforts into the marketing crap again and forgot they were supposed to make a decent chocolate bar.

I think they need a quick reassesment of priorities amd get back to what they do best.

Anonymous said...

Jim let us know what the whole big race thing involves when you can update us.

Lucy said...

If cadbury cba to make a half decent chocoalte bar then I cba wasting my time writing feedback to them on what I think of it. I liked the review jim but I find this all too disappointing. Lol maybe im just in my Monday morning mood.

Kevin said...

Jim do you think the idea of these spots v stripes bars is to make them as inoffensive as possible so that they appeal to the widest amount of people possible. For example if they make one with caramel in they would alienate people that dont like caramel. Becuase this is bassically just chocolate and wafer they must think that this will appeal to the most amount of people possible. Its sensible on their part but yeah pretty boring for us people that want something more unique :(

Daisy said...

Oh jim I forgot to say I have just seen your latest site update thingy. A news page then hey? Sounds exciting. What day are you planning on letting us at it?

Dx

Anonymous said...

When are we going to be able to buy these? Do they have a release date?

Colin said...

Listen to this Cadbury. NO DAIRY MILK - NO PURCHASE. I hope everyone does this so they can start seeing that it isn't right fobbing us off with cheaper choc. Its so poor of them doing this to us.

Paul said...

Jim I think you are right, this doesn't look like the sort of chocolate bar you would expect to see made in Britain.
It reminds me of some of these sort of wafer bars they make in Eastern European countries. They make generic wafer chocolate bars ten-a-penny. Thanks for the review.

Anonymous said...

Is this some sort of mistake? You have rated the newest Nestle stuff over the Cadbury new chocolates this year. I think we might have an imposter on our hands people.

Nigel said...

Hey Jim,

I didn't want to ruin your amazing award post by posting this message on there but sorry I just can't pass up this opportunity to say ..... LOL ONLY BEATING CRAWLEY TOWN ONE NIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROFL lol sorry mate but that was such a pathetic result for you lot. I mean good on the smaller club for making a game of it but man are some of your reserve players poor. You splurged seven million on that bebe guy? Baby more like, he plays like one. Before you get the dig in that you beat us just you remember you have to play us one more time this season and we are on the up :P

Lol I'm sure you would rather I talk about the chocolate bar so I shall share you my wisdom on this too. Imo it looks ok though not as special as I would have hoped. Whenever I hear cadbury are making a new chocolate bar I get a twinge of excitement with the anticipation of what it might be. I do find it annoying when the effort is as lacklusture as this. Lol they didn't even put any effort in to making a new wrapper.

Cheers mate, sorry for the ribbing about the footie. It had to be done.

Georgiediva said...

Forget this crappy bar jim you need to get involved with the new giant milkybar buttons. Honest they are dead good. Perfect for letting just melt on the tongue mmmmmm.

Sarah said...

Lol they are going to confuse people with that wrapper. I had to double take for a minute there because I thought you had just put up your review of the first svs bar back up. Its a cool review but it hasn't done much in the way of inspiring me to buy it.

Rachel said...

God could cadburys make this whole spots vs stripes thing any more childish if they tried?

I was hoping the 'play games' thing was just a one off with the first bar, but by the looks of it the big race stuff is going to be just as crummy. Normally I wouldn't let myself get worked up about such a minor thing but it looks like we are going to have to put up with this rubbish until the London 2012 Olympic Games. Time is sure going to drag. Thanks for the review love.

JK said...

What is with them keeping the same wrapper?

I would have even known they had changed the chocolate bar if I hadn't seen this review. You got to think this could annoy a lot of people. The backlash could be huge cause they are well different bars.

Anonymous said...

I was questioning whether to bother write anything today cause Its obvious they dont listen to any of us anyway. On the last SvS bar I voiced my displeasure about the no dairy milk thing and they haven't put that right this time.

Its stupid man.

Duncan said...

I know im probably not in the band of people cadburys are aiming this whole thing at (20 yr old male) but honestly I can't believe how tragic this whole Big Race thing is? Jim why did you not call them out on this more? Sorry mate but you have been a bit kind on them I think.

Not only are the details on it sketchy but they also sound like they aren't even worth hearing. I will be interested to hear an update on what it all involved when you have one mate.

Ryan said...

How much are these going to cost? If they costs less than dairy milk chocolates then you can excuse them for not using it. If its the same price they have some answering to.

Andy said...

Its not the most exciting looking thing ever but I know I will end up trying one so I wont pretend otherwise.

I find it pretty hard to get my head around them making a wafer product though. I know they have the timeout bar and stuff, but taking on the Kit Kat is pretty risky. By the sound of it this big race bar can't hold a candle to it.

Tim said...

Dear Cadburys,
If you are reading this a]Give us dairy milk chocolate b]Focus more on making decent chocolate bars and not rubbish marketing 'games'. Its a long shot but I hope they start listening to us.
Thanks

Katie S said...

Overall whilst this bar is undoubtedly superior compared to the first SpotsVStripes offering, it is one that I feel could have been made even better with just a few minor adaptations.

Lmao are you joking around jim. If you read your review you say they need to change the wrapper, wafer and chocolate. All those three things are pretty important for a chocolate bar.

It looks like you over scored this one :P There is a first time for everything.

Warren said...

If this is cheap to make (like it looks like lol) then I expect it to cheaper in price. If they sell this for like 30p a pop then I think it will be a nice addition to the range. Almost like a value offering for when you haven't got much cash to spare.

Martin said...

Cheers for the post mate. Do you kow if this is going to completely replace the old spots v stripes bar or is it just going to sit alongside it? I know people will ridicule me for liking it but I really love the current one they have out. It would be well annoying if they replace it with this one, especially cause I don't like wafers that much.

Chris said...

Epic photos today mate. You get better and better with them :]

If it wasn't for the biscuit bits this would be the worst cadburys bar ever lol. Its stupid how such a small thing can make all the difference.

Anonymous said...

Do you ppl not like anything new or sometin?

All any ever does is complain. Choc is meant to be enjoyed. You need to eat a few wispas and lighten up.

Stuart said...

I have had one of these already and I think Jim has rated it to low. I didn't even notice that it wasn't made of Dairy Milk. I dont even think there is a difference between the two. Not one that is mega noticeable.

Gary said...

Sorry buddy but I have to agree with what some of the other commenters have put. Are you not being a kind on this one? This for all the world looks like something you would have tore in to in the past.
I hope you aren't letting your new relations with Cadburys muddy the waters. I don't know what your relationship is with now but I swear you have never mentioned they have sent you chocolate before.

Christine said...

Loving the review but not so much the look of the chocolate bar :( I think rachel has got it right, they have gone about this in a very childish way. The big race stuff sounds like its for babys.

Nicholas said...

Thank you for setting my expectations suitably Jim. Whenever I see new Cadbury chocs I always get uber uber excited and I know I would have done if I had seen this without seeing your review beforehand.

Now Im just thinking it will be interesting to try rather than having very high expectations.

Eric said...

God what has Cadburys come to.

There used to be a time when a chocolate company would just focus on making decent chocolate bars. Nowadays they are so fixated with stupid ad campaigns they seemingly don’t pay as much attention to what is important Chocolate .

I wont diss this one too much until I try it but just looking at it I don't think the signs are good.

Phil said...

I really can't be bothered with all that marketing guff, lol. I find this whole spots vs stripes thing a bit..pointless really. I don't think many people even know what it's all about.
The wrapper looks very similar to the other bar apart from the name, also it's hard to get an idea of what the product actually is since there's no description on the front.
I will be giving this a try but I'm not expecting much, I'm not really a fan of tasteless wafers.

I share your disappointment over the lack of Dairy Milk Jim, it's something that's really bugging me about Cadbury lately. Anyway, good review.

By the way, I tried the new Dairy Milk biscuits last week, and they were quite good. At least there's no way they could get out of using Dairy Milk on them, lol.

Alex said...

Typical responses from ill informed people again. What is it about this website? All people ever do is complain. Why don't you people just enjoy things for what they are instead of just looking for faults all the time.

Richard said...

@Warren @Ryan I think you are going to be annoyed. According to this article the price is going to be 54p rrp. That isn't any cheaper than your typical Dairy Milk bar. http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=independentarticle&ID=215985

KP said...

Reading the review I thought you were going to give it a far lower score than you did. I know you see there isn't much wrong with it, but couldn't you flip the question and ask yourself the alternative of what is right about it?

I normally associate cadburys with being honest, high quality everyday chocolate but this looks like a cheap wafer thing you would find in a pound shop.
If it didn't come up with a cadburys wrapper do you honestly hand on heart think you would have rated it the same ;)

Alicia said...

The levels of fat for a chocolate bar that is mainly wafer are so high. I was expecting to see them a lot lower when I found out what it was made of. I would portion myself to half a bar at a time so its pretty annoying to hear that it comes in one single long piece.

Dave said...

Man oh man. What happened to the days when everything cadburys made was the highest quality they could make.

They seem like they are trying to get away with more and more as time go by - reducing the size of the bars and now making chocolates without Dairy Milky in them.

Kieran said...

Omg you wouldn't believe how lame the competition is.

1. You get a code from the wrapper.

2. You register all your details on their website.

3. It then comes up with a screen that times you how long it takes to enter the code you got from your wrapper and you are supposed to be attempting to break some sort of world record.

I don't think I have ever seen such a lame competition. At least the chocolate was better than I thought it might be. I wont be buying another any time soon though.

Jim said...

Hi Everyone.

The feedback on this Big Race isn't looking overwhelmingly positive is it? I have been in communication with the SpotsVsStripes team today on Twitter and I'm hoping that might come one the site later and respond to some of your comments.

Well done to all of you for adding your thoughts to the site. We live in a free country so it's brilliant seeing you guys not hold back on what you think. It's much better you tell these companies what you think.

In reposnse to some of the questions thrown my way ...

Steven - As I said they offered me the chance of trying it a week or so ago.

Pete - I believe it should be out any day now. Keep your eyes open for it.

EVERYONE - The details of the competition have been outlined by Kieran today. I went on the website this morning to enter my own code. It's quite funny inputting the code, you feel the pressure when you are sticking it in :D

Kevin - I think you have got it exactly right. Making a bar that is as inoffensive to as many people as possible makes sense when they are going for as bigger consumer breadth as possible.

Daisy - I'm working on the News page right now. With any luck it should be up today or tomorrow.

Paul - Cadbury confirmed to me today that this bar was manufactured in Poland. I'm seriously getting worried with how much I know about chocolate. Being able to determine what country a chocolate is from just by looking at it sorta tells you that I need to get out more don't you think :D

Nigel - Crawley Town did very well. To be honest I was hardly distraught and wouldn't have minded if they had won. I am orignally from around the the area. I know you are only joking around anyway :D

Rachel - I think it's aimed at a younger consumer than possibly some of us are yes :D

JK - I agree they should have gone for a little more differentiation on the wrapper. You have to think some people wont even notice it's new.

Duncan - I wasn't 100.0% aware of the totality of the campaign so yes I was a little hesitant 'calling them out' on it. If I'm completely honest No the campaign doesn't appeal to me that much, younger consumers may like the idea though. We will have to see.

Ryan/Richard/Warren - RRP is £0.54

Martin - I'm not sure if the old bar is going or not. One would imagine so considering the wrappers are almost identical. I will ask them on Twitter, hopefully they might even come on and answer you themselves.

Phil - The Dairy Milk biscuits are tasty aren't they. I seem to remember being impressed by just how much chocoalte they put on each biscuit. I too don't like this trend of not using Dairy Milk. I get why they do it sometimes, but it's happening increasingly more frequently now.

Alex - Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Let people express it thank you.

Kieran - Thanks for the detailed run down of the competition. I'm not sure I like the whole thing myself but I wouldn't dare want to put people off entering. It was fun doing the once I thought.

Well everyone I hope I have managed to sift out your questions from the comments. If I have missed anything you guys have posted just rattle my cage :D

It would be great to hear some more of your views once you guys get around to trying it yourselves. I seriosuly am contemplating how much time I spend on this website considering I was able to identify what country it was produced in just by looking at it :D haha that was a bit of an eye opener for me :D

Anyway I'm glad you guys enjoyed the review, even if your first thoughts about it don't appear to be that positive. You have to try these things to be 100.0% sure though people, make sure you at least give it a fair chance.

Thanks everyone

JIM

This review came right out of left field. I had no idea another spotsvsstries bar was being released. I'll look out for it & buy it once to give it a try but the whole "Big Race" thing doesn't exactly inspire me. Still, it's something a bit different from Cadbury & it's good to see that not all of their new products are duds in the taste department.

Hey guys, Jerry here - I run the @spotsvstripes and @cadburystripes Twitters.

Race Season is the next phase in Spots v Stripes and our way of getting the nation playing some more, this time by racing! In fact we've teemed up with Guinness World Records to give people a chance to prove they're REALLY really fast ;)

Our site launched today so check out http://www.spotsvstripes.com/RaceSeason to find out more, or look out for this bar coming into stores over the next fortnight. Our fun and fast paced new advert for it hits TV screens on the 1st March and our Cadbury Spots @ Cadbury Stripes Facebook pages shortly beforehand!

Ps - the code inside the bar is just a bonus race really - you can have a lot more fun proving you're the World's fastest bed maker, coin stacker, Doodler or more... Hopefully you guys'll like it a bit more when you see it live, or taste the bar :)

... it looks like the Nestle "Crunch-Crisp".

--which, oddly, got the same score. (3-day weekend over here, so there's time to flip through the archives...) Looks trashy-good.

Nick said...

@Jerry what sort of person did you have in mind when you made this bar? Are there going to be any more svs bars soon?

Ed said...

I personally like the look of this one. Much more so than the older crappy spots and stripes which had that horrible white chocolate.

I ignore all the marketing stuff anyway. It's all about the chocolate for me. I don't even bother thinking about on pack competitions so it wont bother me.

Justin said...

Ace review Jimbo. For once I'm not insanely jealous about you getting something new to try before I do. I think I can wait a bit longer before I get desperate to try this. It looks fair enough but its just a a big wafer bar at the end of the day.

Is it that much different to the timeout? The only diff looks like that its bigger to me.

Vikki said...

Apologies for being all cynical but this does not look good. They should have learnt their lesson from the first bar that no one gives a monkeys about the spots and stripes stuff. All cadbury need to do is make decent chocolate bars :(

David said...

@Jerry

Whats your fave cadburys bar then?

Do you honestly think this is as good as the quality Cadburys demands?

What are the reasons for not using Dairy Milk?

Kels said...

Without the biscuit this would have been the most boring bar I think cadbury have ever made lol. Its almost like the Timeout take 2. Superb review Jim. Loving the three pics on the review :P One more than normal.

PMAN said...

Where are we going to be able to likely buy these? I would like to give one a try before I tell you what I think of the total package, marketing stuff and all.

Matt said...

It is annoying to hear about them consistently not using Dairy milk. Do you think it is the rise in costs they were talking about which has meant they are having to make cheaper choc in order to get the same profits? Its cool seeing someone from Cadburys come on the site, even if it is just to give themselves a plug. They could have at least answered some of our burning Q's.

Matt said...

p.s Forgot to say good review mate. Best on the net by light years for this sort thing. Honest and well written cheers.

Estelle said...

I don't come on the site for one day and I miss all the excite :) :) LOl that will teach me.

Well it looks to me like cadburys have just extended the crappyness of the first spots and stripes stuff with some more crappy ideas. Why they insist on doing these silly games I don't know, why not just do cash prizes like everyone wants lol.

The chocolate bar looks ok to me. Its not the sort of thing that I sit here at my work desk dreaming of all day, but I wont deny I would happily eat one to try.

Steven_F said...

I am well intrigued by this news page you keep dropping hints about Jim. what is going to be involved? Are we (your fans lol) going to be able to add content and news?

Daniel said...

Instead of making a new bar they should have gone with another of the golden oldies like the Wispa Mint.

The day they announce that is coming back will be the best day ever. *crosses fingers*

This all sounds yummy. I cant wait until I get to try one and enter the race lol.

Did anyone here manage to get one of the free ones they were giving out on facebook? I was late in getting on there :[

Jerry (Cadbury Spots v Stripes) said...

Thanks for all the feedback guys, to those asking about Spots v Stripes more generally it is an ongoing project all about getting people playing/involved in the buildup to London 2012 - the Challenge Bar was always a limited edition and so is the Big Race Bar so I'm sure something will come along to replace it. You may have noticed a lot of our bars have gone Spotty/Stripey and that Creme Egg is playing along too with Goo Dares Wins - http://www.cremeegg.com

@Nick - I think the bar has pretty wide appeal but it's a more filling/bulkier eat than most of our bars so may appeal to a slightly different person (someone not so definitely interested just in pure chocolate)

@David - I'm a sucker for good old fashioned Whole Nut and got through more than my fair share of Wishes over Xmas.

I'm actually allergic to gluten/biscuit so have (quite ironically) never tasted the Big Race but my friends who have do seem to genuinely really like it - their only complaint is generally that it's too big so perhaps we should have made them in two parts!

@PMAN they are going out to stores/distributors now so expect them to start appearing soon, their main availability will be March & April

@Estelle it's not really supposed to be an on-pack promotion as such, just a bit of fun to get people playing in the buildup to the Olympics - we dont think people play enough and think it's something fun tht we can bring to the big event itself.

@Daniel I LOVE Wispa Mint, will definitely pass that on ;)

@Simon We'll have to give some more away soon, about 10,000 tried to get the 1,000 bars we were giving away to trial them - even if people don't like Spots v Stripes I hope they like the bar once they do try it!

Come say hi on http://www.facebook.com/cadburystripes sometime, or if you'd rather speak to Alison go over to http://www.facebook.com/cadburyspots

@Jerry Thank you for answering my question it must suck having that allergy.

One thing you still haven't informed us about is why cadburys aren't using as much dairy milk anymore? I would be interested to hear more on this.

I think this needs to be said - thank you so much for taking the time to come on and answer our question. Its normal that big companies like cadburys and mars avoid coming on sites like this and talking to us all. We don't mean to be nasty about your products, we just want what is best.

Not really a fan on chocolate bars with biscuiut but I would still try this just because it is Cadburys. The spots vs stripes thing is a bit confusing but I don't really care because it is only a chocolate bar.

Selina said...

Meh you guys can say what you want. I still don't think there is anything better than trying a new cadburys chocolate for the first time.

I never fail to get dead excited about it still.

Vhari said...

WOah I have never seen a representative of Cadburys on here before. Great work Jimbo. Its always great to hear from the horses mouth. They must respect the power of your blog if they are willing to go to the effort of coming on it.

Anonymous said...

That is so impressive hearing from a real cadburys employee. Mars and Neslte are going to have to do the same now if they want to maintain their credibility.

Lauren said...

Lol didn't I miss all the excitement :)

Great review Jim but I knew you weren't going to like it when I read what it was the other day. I know you aren't one for things that are mostly wafer.

I will still buy one when I see it.

Linz said...

I had one yesterday and really enjoyed it, even though I usually can't be bothered with wafer. It was lovely but it was over so quickly! For something with a fairly heavy calorie punch I'd expect it to last a lot longer and be more filling. I was still hungry! :( Nice bar though, I'll definitely buy it again.

You can get it in RS McColl by the way!

Vikki said...

We have to put up with this rubbish until 2012? Oh god it's going to be a long year of crappy new bars from cadburys isn't it :(

Alan said...

I havent seen/tried tjis yet but I think it sounds rather nice. Much more intereting than a KitKat. I think people are taking it abit seriously though, it is meant to be a bit of fun afterall, and I doubt the average consumer is going to notice it isnt covered with Dairy Milk as the proportion of chocolate is quite small/thin, or that it is a european type bar.. I'd never think of that in a million years lol.

@Vikki..you dont have to put with any rubbish, its not that bad lol theres far worse bars out there, and these are only limited edition bars..
Besides, look on a Fry's chocolate cream wrapper and it says the same 'made in the EU under licence from Cadbury UK..'

Thea said...

@Jerry that's so impressive that you take the time to come on the site and answer questions! I love Cadburys because of your tradition and dedication to quality. I haven't tried the spots vs stripes bars yet but I think the interactive part is innovative, and wholeheartedly agree on the play theme!
I would love to see Cadbury introduce two types of product -- 1) a more challengingly interactive Spots vs Stripes bar for the more advanced gamers 2) a Dairy Milk mini bar assortment with distinctively flavored fillings, maybe a British heritage line (which could also reestablish this against the US-based Kraft buyout) : you could do anything like less adventurous mince pie, Twinings tea, roast chestnut, jammy dodgers, custard, etc. to crazier things like chicken tikka or fish n chips. If you read through the site reviews and comments, there's a real niche market in the UK for imaginative flavors, I miss them here, like KitKat for example has grabbed in Japan.
@Jim lol about the Polish chocolate, embrace your talents :D

Mysterio6_19 said...

Jesus are you kidding me? A timeout merged in to one bar with some biscuits on top. How unimaginative.

Alan said...

I tried this bar yesterday and really enjoyed it! The biscuit bits were a little odd but overall i thought it lovely. Far nicer than a Time Out, and much more substantial. To be honest I couldnt tell it wasnt Dairy Milk on the bar, the covering is thin so I dont think its an issue. I think people are being abit harsh on it, and dont perhaps appreciate the simpler ideas as much as they compare it to the bells and whistles bars. Def buying again..
