Listen up ChocolateMission readers!! Today you not only get a brand spanking new review of the latest Ritter Sport Cookies & Cream bar, but you also get the opportunity to enter a prize drawing to try it your very self!!
This Ritter Sport Cookies & Cream has been long in development and was created off the back of a 'Create your own flavour of Ritter Sport' competition that ran in Germany early this year. As part of the competition, Ritter also asked their fans to create packaging designs for the wrappers - and the three winning bars are displayed throughout below. All you have to do today is to pick your favourite out of the three, and hope it matches my own!! :D ... simple eh!? All you have to do to enter is to start following me on Twitter and to send a tweet to @ChocMission with your answer and a '#competition' I will announce the winners in the next '7Days of Chocolate Reviews Post' .... shall I talk chocolate now :D

This latest offering slots into Ritter's existing range of 100.0g bars and comes described as 'white chocolate filled with a vanilla cream filling with pieces of chocolate cookie' - yumtastic I thought!
As you can see above the chocolate looked attractive on the eye, and as ever the filling appeared plentiful sandwiched between the outer clean cut white chocolate. After allowing for a brief cooling time in the fridge, myself and the rest of my family split the bar into four-by-four quadrants and tucked in with high expectations. After consuming our servings, thoughts were then shared, and our opinions were oddly unanimous. We all thought the mouth feel of the chocolate was sensational with the crisp out chocolate playing off nicely with cooling sensation brought to the party by the softer inner filling that was lined with crunchy cookies pieces. The taste was concluded to be pleasant, but not all that engaging with the vanilla and sugar flavours proving to be more one dimensional than expected. It must be reiterated that the sweet milky bourbon taste was liked all well round, but I think more was expected from the cookie element which didn't provide much in the way of flavour. Overall the general consensus behind this chocolate was that it was enjoyable, yet could of been better. It was one of those chocolates that you could happily eat all day long without getting much satisfaction from it. From a personal point of view I thought it needed more of a flavour input from the cookie pieces to give the taste an extra dimension. It wasn't far off being an exceptional chocolate, however it's lack of depth in the taste and subsequent satisfaction credentials have left it more of a mediocre chocolate offering. Who cares what we say though eh!? Get yourself in the mix to see if you are lucky enough to try it yourself by entering the competition above.

Thanks for at least giving me the chance to give this one a try Jim. The only way I ever have a sniff of getting half of these Ritter bars is by entering your competitions. I haven't won yet but there's always this time nudge nudge wink wink.
I didn't know they had this one coming out as well as the summer flavours. I thought the summer LEs were our lot until Christmas. Nice one Jim. I will defo be getting myself in the mix with your competition.
I wont enter this time because I don't really fancy the chocolate on offer. I've never been a fan of any white chocolate I've ever tried so this would be wasted on me.
Let me know if you are doing a dark chocolate ritter competition Jimbob. I will be right at the front of the line.
My dads off to berlin on business next week so im going to ask him to stock me up on ritter sport etc.
Do you know of any milka new ones that have just come out Jim? If you know of any you want please say and I might be able to persuade him to get some for you.
Contreversial as this may sound I think the best cookies and cream bar is the Hersheys one. It would be an interesting comparison to do a like-for-like with this ritter one though. They do look quite similar, this one is just shaped differently and has a soft centre instead of just being a plain bar.
Quality review man. I'm undecided which of those covers is best though. If i'm completely honest I think they are all a little crummy, I much prefer the classical ritter style. I must be boring :)
God I have to win this competition. Please please please Jim. I will write on a review on it if you let me win.
I've never had a cookies and cream chocolate before but I do love oreos and milk. I bought some of the new double stuff yesterday. I nomed half the packet in like 10 minutes lol. I'm such a greedy piggy.
Did they just use the same filling they do for that Italian flavoured ice cream chocolate they make (called stratiacella or something!).
Looking at the pics it looks to me like they just made that one but with white chocolate around it instead of the milk chocolate.
This twitter entry stuff is too much for my brain to comprehend. Is there any other way we might be able to enter? I don't use twitter I'm afraid.
Oh well, it's at least nice to see they didn't just revert to norm and make it with milk chocolate like normal.
Like 80% of all ritter bars get made with milk chocolate its a tad tedious. I find it even more annoying when they can make nice dark and white chocolate as well.
If anything I would say that most of their dark chocolates are better than the milk chocolate ones. That would certainly appear to be the case if the marzipan is anything to go by.
Walkers did something similar with their crisps didn't they. It would be so awesome if we got someone in our country to do it.
Maybe Kraft might nick the idea and do it on milka or cadburys. I can't see mars doing it. I don't think they are flexible enough to do this sort of thing, neither are Nestle.
Hey J
Great review today man. It feels like ages since we got a ritter sport post. I remember a time when they were making so many flavours we were getting near multiple reviews a week. I've been signed up to your twitter page for ages but I'm going to need to sign up so I can re-tweet your reviews. It's a shame I won't be re-tweeting to anyone :) I wont have any people looking at my page.
Cheers
N
ps. How boring is it without any footie :(
Before anyone chimes in with the 'I wish we had a brand that made a chocolate like this ...' etc etc they might want to check out Hotel Chocolat.

It's probably ten times nicer than this ritter one.
I've shared your monday review and this one already on twitter. Aren't I good =)
Oh yes this looks right up my street.
Has anyone bought the new cookies and cream hersheys kisses that are in the supermarkets now? I bought a pouch of them and was shocked at the price. It cost me like £1.79 and I only got about 6 chocolates. They are very expensive for what you get. Especialyl since they are pretty much pure sugar lol.
A competition and a review. In the fine words of the most historic chocolate ad ever
{dodgy french accent} ..... "ooooh sir you are spoiling us"
Nice one Jimbob.
The one white chocolate I have tried from ritter I thought was really good. It was the white chocolate with whole hazelnuts. If I had the chance I would buy it more often but its bloomin hard to get hold of.
Sainsburys used to sell it but they stopped about a year ago so the only place that I know has it now is this dodgy polish shop thats about 5 mins walk from my house. I don't like going in there but when I have the craving for it they usually have it in.
Dx
Thanks for the review Jim. I think I'm finally going to have to sign up to twitter and start following you.
I'd forgotton all about this one. It seems like forever since they first started talking about the competition they ran to win it. I guess if you weigh up the flavour that won it probably made sense to leave releasing it until the summer time. It's not exactly the sort of flavour you would expect to get around winter or autumn time.
Im awfully jealous of you Jim. This is one chocolate I would be so so keen on trying. The few ritter white chocolate bars I've had have all been fantastic (my favourite being the mango and passionfruit nom nom!).
Let me get this straight. The Germans got given the opportunity to create any flavour they wanted and they chose cookies and cream????
Heavens above what were they thinking!!!! I can think of a million and one different flavours that would have been better than this.
There isn't an obvious winner out of the three is there!?
I'm going to have to think about this one. Good review m8.
You're making me feel ancient with all this talk of twitter.
I don't see the benefit of letting random people know what you are up to or what you are thinking. Surely if you want to talk to people you just actually talk to them or pick up the phone!
So ritter sport fans came up with this flavour then? Mark my words these people at ritter are running out of ideas for flavours :) It was always going to happen considering the amount they pump out. On last count I think it was a total of 16 new ones just last year.
I'm going to sign up to enter this competition but I'm telling you now I will never be turned into a full time twitterrer.
This looks so yummy.
It's hard picking a winner out of those three because they all have their strengths.
Im going to have to get my brother and sister to get twitter accounts so we can all pick one. You didn't say there was a limit of entries per family now did you ;)
Thorntons should try running a similar competition on that line of square chocolate bars they make. If we are being honest they have already ripped them off enough already. They might as well just go the whole way and copy their other ideas.
ooooh a competition how very exciting. What are roughly the chances of winning? How many entrances do you think you will get?
Just so you know I'm signing up to twitter especially just to enter this draw ;) I wont be telling any of my friends though. They are all twitter mad but I told them there wouldn't be anything on this earth that would ever make me want to sign up to that infernal site. Lol that was until this ritter comp snuck up on me, I can't ignore it now.
" It wasn't far off being an exceptional chocolate, however it's lack of depth in the taste and subsequent satisfaction credentials have left it more of a mediocre chocolate offering. Who cares what we say though eh!?"
.... I care Jim .... I care :-)
You've only got me filling in a registration form for twitter. Damn you!
Loving the picture of the chocolate today Jim. You can really see how small the cookie bits are in the filling I'm not surprised to hear you thought they weren't big enough to stand out. They would have been better to have fewer bigger pieces wouldn't they.
You are way to kind with your chocolate man. You not only seem to share it with your family but now you seem to be increasingly giving out to all of us on your twitter feed.
Didn't you send someone some more Ritter for just promoting one of your reviews on their own account once. I need to get my head on top of all the retweeting business, i'm bad I never do it lol.
Cookies and cream is so American lol :) They should have tried to have done a hook up with oreo or something. That would have helped out the cookie situation for sure.

I might be wrong but wasn't this bar created to celebrate the opening of the new ritter store in Berlin? I believe at that very store you can create your own flavour of bar like a pick-a-mix.
That would be so cool to do. I don't have a clue what I would make though. It would all be overwhelming having such choice.
Just signed up to @ChocMission
Make sure I win Jim. Ritter Sport FTW!!!!!!!
I wish I was one your family. You keep on mentioning sharing your chocolate with them like everyday. Do they ever write any of the reviews or do they just get to eat the chocolate? If they don't have to write anything then they are the ones getting the best end of the deal lol. Go Jim's Mum + Dad.
God its a going trend this week isn't it. I keep thinking the chocolates that are going to score well are the ones that end up getting the mediocre marks. I thought the cherry slab on monday was going to so much better and I had this one down for at least an 8.5. It just goes to show theres no point trying to second guess these things, its all about seeing what they are like for real.
The bar being like it was always going to be hard for them to make a lot of the cookie bit.
Unless they changed the size of the blocks they were always going to have to make them quite small weren't they. I feel you would have been saying it was better if the cookies were bigger, they almost look like micro dust in your pictures.
Even though its only got a seven I really really really want to try this one. Ritter Sport are so wicked they make the coolest flavours of chocolate all the time. We'd never get someone like dairy milk taking a chance on something like this. The only thing half as exciting was the bliss bar with the vanilla in it. Even that sounds boring compared to cookies and cream.
Rxxx
No doubt you are going to get a load of comments from people that never posted on here before because of the competition. You should make the competitions harder so that not just anyone can enter Jim. Wouldn't you rather the chocolate go to one of your dedicated fans rather than just a randomer.
@Hollie ditto lol
@Daisy the white whole hazelnut is phenomenal
tbh this chocolate sounds pretty boring, although I do like the Hershey's one so I would give this a try. Although I think I have had my fair share of Ritter :D so am also sitting this competition out. Besides the shocking lack of impartiality involved in the results :D Actually, it's tough to pick a favorite, the cookie face is really cute but I think the checkers are more unique. I don't like the third one because there is too much going on, plus I doubt it is aimed to woo girls...it's very cool of Ritter to come up with the idea & fun to have a JCM competition on a competition flavor!
This looks so yummy love to try xx
OoOOOOOoo - not only a top review but we also get a chance to get our hands on the choc ourselves :P! I reckon you've caused a sudden surge in Twitter's membership numbers Jim! x
Hi All,
I think this might be a record level of comments for a review on it's first day on the site :D Haha I wonder why eh!?
I hope the people who read the review enjoyed it - it wasn't the best Ritter chocolate ever but it was an exciting flavour to review and I loved the whole campaign idea behind it. Perhaps one day when Ritter Sport start taking over the world (they all become evil eventually haha!!) they will roll something similar out for the UK. Lets just hope they do.
GARY - Very noble of you not entering if it doesn't interest you. Some people will no doubt enter just because it's free.
MARIA - I'm a bit out of touch with Milka at the moment I'm afraid. I will take a look at the Milka site tonight and let you know. Thanks for the kind offer.
GOLDEN - No the cookie pieces were bigger and more crunchy than the specs of chocolate used in the Straciatella.
LINDA - I'm afraid not. I will be drawing via twitter I'm afraid. Go on sign up and give it a go. You will soon grow to like it :D We all do!
NIGEL - It is indeed boring without the football. I'm getting very tired of all the transfer speculation already. Only another two months to go ... oh dear!
TRICKY - I'm sure that is a very credible alternative. Thanks for sharing.
NATHAN - Indeed I have seen those pouches doing the rounds. They are mostly getting merchandised on clip strips round random parts of the supermarkets aren't they.
JUSTIN - Ferrero Rocher???
NIKKI - Care to mention any of these flavours you have come up with? I don't think C&C is the best they could have done, but I by no means think it is the worst. The way Ritter ran it they actually had a shortlist of flavours you could vote on. There were some very cool flavours to pick from.
GRAEME - Come on chap embrace the new age of communication :D
ALI - I don't think Ritter are running out of ideas at all. I think this was just a clever way to engage consumers and get them feeling involved in the way the brand was progressing. I think it will be a long time before we see Ritter fall short in the ideas area.
WILL - Indeed this could be an area for Thorntons to look at.
OREO MONSTER - Your blogger name is brilliant :D Love it.
PETER - I'm not sure this competition was directly involved in the launch but I know that you can create fully customised bars in that shop. I would love to give it a try myself but like you say it could all be a bit daunting knowing what to pick.
CARL - Couldn't agree more :D You could say my old man earns his stripes by doing some of the photography though.
THEA - Again very noble of you to step aside. Thanks for the kind words about the review. They always send over so many samples it would be rude not to share some with you guys and show my appreciation for continued support.
ROXY - Haha I'm not to sure about that. I think it's going to be a pretty popular competition though :D
Thanks for the entries and feedback on the review everyone. Good luck to everyone that has entered.
JIM
Before anyone starts having a go at me for talking down about Thorntons I'm not having a go at them at all. I think it was sensible for them to make a range similar to Ritter.
I'm not sure whether you are going to know this Jim but do Ritter launch these limited editions they keep making at a premium to the rest of their chocolates?
I ask just because I think it's really clever from a marketing perspective. On the face of things they look all nice and cuddly from the public pov because they are giving them new flavours and new things. If they charge a higher price for them then they have to be happy to because they will get better margins etc. Everyone wins if this is the case.
Sorry it was just a geeky thought I had.
It looks like I have to add another chocolate on to the endless list of Ritters I need to now try. My list is rather long, I think it must be around twenty deep now, I know I will never cover them all, I'm just going to have to be selective.
This is a cool post but I cringed when I saw the competition is being run on twitter again. I don't get everyone's obsession with that damn thing. Why do people feel the need to tell the world about tieing their shoe laces? Honestly some of the stuff that gets posted on there is beyond stupid. Can I please enter by another means.
I've been wanting to hear about this for ages now. It was so long ago you told us about it I did actually forget they were in the process of making it.
Its a shame they didn't extend the competition over here. I would have been sad enough to enter both the create a flavour and a wrapper parts of it lol. Nothing beats a 'design your own xxxxxx' type of contest. I've always wondered how many people enter these sort of things. I've never won any of the ones I've entered before.
To be different they should have inverted it from what people would have expected i.e. made it dark chocolate on the outside and then had a cream centre. That would have thrown the mockers up people. This is just as expected though isn't it. Any muppet would have guessed it would have been white chocoalte with a white filling, come on ritter mix it up a bit next time people.
I was predicting a slightly higher score than it got here, I thought it had potential to be one of the best ever.
Whoever you end up sending this out to better come back and tell us their own rating. I want to rule out the chances that this has got a rough ride because Jim has a dislike for white chocolate .... ;p (joking).
I think it should be a rule that you have one competition a week :)
If that were the case I would make sure I visited every day to at least retweet your review.
Not that I don't do that any way :)
Thank you for another brilliant review Jim. How come you get all these new chocolates from Ritter before anyone else? I've not seen this reviewed on any other chocolate site yet.
Thanks so much for doing the competition Jim. I've entered so many of them before and not won but I got all my fingers and toes crossed for this one. Cookies and Cream sounds amazing. I would do anything to win this one. Thanks for the brilliant review of it.
This chocolate must be a bit rubbish if you are prepared to be giving it away. It sounds to me like its going to be one of those annoying ones thats sounds for all the money like it's going to be awesome and then ends up being disappointing. I doubt I will ever get the chance of confirming that.
Bother! Im not using anything like Twitter, not at my ripe old age. I can't be down with you kids, all this technology is moving to fast for me these days I just can't keep up with it all. God you've made me feel old.
Cool reviews and thanks so much for the competition you are running. It's nice to know that I at least have a tiny chance of being able to try this chocolate now. If it wasn't for the comp this review would just be another pie in the sky for me. I could look at it all day but without paying a horrendus amount shipping it over from abroad I would never get a sniff of eating it. Thanks again.
Is there a secret fourth option which is that you think they are all pants?
Lol sorry I hate to be nasty to the people that did the designs but I personally don't like any of the three. I'm going to just have to take a guess. There isn't an obvious winner out of all of them I don't think.
All three of those wrappers have their strengths and weaknesses. What sort of art do you like Jim? We need some clues if we are going to pick the one you like :-)
We are only allowed to enter the one time yes?
If I could have entered in the create a flavour comp I would have gone for a white chocolate and vanilla yoghurt bar. That combines both my favourite two ritters with the white chocolate and the yoghurt one. I doubt it would have won but it would have been my perfect chocolate.
Why did it take them so long for this to come out? If I remember right this competition of creating your flavour ritter started ;ast September. If this has only just come out they must have lost so much steam behind the campaign. I would of thought people lost interest pretty quickly.
Hi All,
The feedbacks been crazy for this one! The RT's on Twitter are going mental I think you guys might cause my Ipad to self-combust :D Great work people keep it up.
RICHARD - I believe they sell them price aligned to the rest of the 100.0g bar range.
ERIC - There is more to Twitter than just telling people what you are doing. It's about being entertaining, sharing content, sparking conversations. It's an amazing platform for brands and people. I was sceptical at first but I genuinely love it now. Embrace it chap.
ALISTAR - They are a good format of competition aren't they. Allowing people to be creative and express themselves can only be a good thing.
ANON - A competition every week!? No way! They wouldn't feel as special when they did come round if that was the case.
OLLIE - Too old? You can never be to old for anything! There are a lot of senior figures on twitter.
KEV - Haha no secret option D I'm afraid :D
ALICIA - I won't be giving any clues :D This is to be done purely on your judgement of character :D
RAV - From what I understand the competition went down a storm. I don't think people lost interest whatsoever.
Thanks everyone. There is a really special review coming up tomorrow.
JIM
tweeted @cee_cee54 +thanx 4 the comp!XX :)
