Kcal 260 Fat 15.1g Carbs 28.8g
Second to go through the ChocolateMission rating system this week is the Kit Kat Chunky Hazelnut. This is a bar that you might have seen popping up in your local newsagents - it seems that a lot of smaller independent stores have been sourcing Kit Kats from Europe recently (See my review of the Bulgarian version HERE). The UK Kit Kat team obviously decided it was time to get the UK on board with the Hazelnut flavour and it now has its own chance of becoming a permanent fixture in the UK Chunky range.
Unlike the Mint variant yesterday, this Hazelnut variation did have a creme layer on top of the wafer and it constituted 19% of the total 48.0g bar. Aroma wise a minor nutty hint was detectable, though it could have been a little stronger if we are being fussy. The milk chocolate and wafer elements delivered in line with expectations establishing the sweet cocoa, malty wheat taste that we all know and love Kit Kats for. The hazelnut creme really didn't come through until the latter stages of the taste but it was well worth the wait adding the desired extra dimensions of woody, creamy hazelnut. It was agreed the nuttyness was pitched just right - not too strong but certainly incremental to overall taste and it got a thumbs up all round from the taste panel with all saying they would buy it again. This one is going to be hard to beat.
