Like London buses you wait around wanting to review just one S'mores bar and then two come along at once :-) S'mores seem to be the snack in vogue over @AmericanSoda as it was with great delight we received our second S'mores product in the space of a month from them to review. The bar in line of ChocolateMission review firing today was this Annabelle's Rocky Road S'mores bar (See HERE). Described as the 'classic American combination of marshmallow, chocolate, graham cracker, and roasted nuts that has been packaged for your convenience in a 48.0g bar', it sounded like it had the potential to be every bit as good as the recent Gardner's S'mores bar we had just reviewed.

With it's 48.0g form the bar was rather large in size what with the main constituents being the marshmallow element. The wrapper looked attractive enough though with the S'mores branding hiding away down in the right-hand corner we thought it might be unclear to a none the wiser consumer that this new variation was now NEW and existing. Thoughts on the wrapper aside the bar itself looked very unique with it's clear layering of outer chocolate with nuts and marshmallow sandwiching an inner graham cracker piece - a thumbs up from an aesthetic view point.

Taking the size-able bar out of it's foil packet it emanated pleasant sweet sugary smells of vanilla. The chocolate was no where as thick as the Gardner's bar but it still did a relatively decent job of establishing the initial creamy chocolatey taste. The cashew nut fragments within the chocolate added an interesting crunch element texturally however struggled for significance flavour wise with the denser mallow and biscuity graham cracker dominating proceedings once the chocolate hard melted away and departed the scene. In comparison to the Gardner's the cracker was comparable in flavour however it did feel a little limp in that it wasn't as crunchy. The total bar in it's entirety provided a decent sized snack and left all that tried one feeling contented having consumed it.

Overall it was hard to pick a winner between this Annabelle's offering and the Gardner's bar - so we didn't :-) Both of them have their upsides and their shortcomings. This Annabelle's bar doesn't have the thickest chocolate or the tastiest nuts but the mallow is a little more flavoursome and it's grander size makes it a little more satisfying when it comes to curing the hunger pangs. What can be said about both bars is that they are definitely each worth giving a try if American snacks are your sort of thing. They both deliver the experience unlike any sort of offering we have here in the UK or Europe. These bars haven even motivated us to have a ChocolateMission DIY S'mores evening - look out for that post coming soon! In the mean time head to @AmericanSoda if you fancy doing the taste test yourself.
