You may have seen on Monday that we had a rather disappointing start when it came to reviewing these new Cadbury Dairy Milk Puddles bars. Indeed the first flavour we tried, the Cadbury Dairy Milk Puddles Smooth Hazelnut was a big disappointment with it's frankly terrible tasting hazelnut centre. We were quite literally left with a bad taste in our mouths, though we didn't have long to feel all that sorry for ourselves as it wasn't long before we were trying the other new Cadbury Dairy Milk Puddles flavour - the Smooth Mint bar.

Again this bar came in a 90.0g form and in the same bizarre looking design as the last. We felt a little less favourably about the bubbles this time as one of them had exploded meaning there was sticky green mess all over the place - mucky hands a-go-go! As we didn't comment that much on the wrapper this time we thought we better here. The Puddles wrappers look relatively cool, not too dissimilar from the rest of the Dairy Milk range but differentiated enough to stand out from shelves and you shouldn't have too much difficulty picking them out.

On the pack the bar comes described as 'milk chocolate with a soft mint flavour filling'. We would describe mint as quite a British flavour though for some reason Cadbury haven't always been one to experiment with it that much. This fact made this bar quite a cool new favour variation to try and after we had navigated our way round all the leaked mint filling we went about our taste test. Just as with the other Puddles flavour the Cadbury Dairy Milk was dominant for starters until the mint filling was exposed. Unlike the hazelnut bar the mint filling here was delightful. It wasn't overly sweet but had a nice peppermint kick and provided a lovely cooling sensation in the mouth - this was one we couldn't get enough of.

Overall it seems the new Cadbury Dairy Milk Puddles wasn't a total disaster with this Smooth Mint variation turning out to be rather good. It's always a good sign when the team finishes a bar before we have penned the review - normally we like to leave the writer a little nibble so they can remind themselves of the taste but that was a no go here as it got scoffed within minutes of opening it. The mint filling here was a little messy but it tasted nice and complimented the base milk chocolate without making it overly sweet. If you have the option of either/or when it comes to the hazelnut or mint bars then head towards the mint!
