We don't know about you guys but when it comes to our chocolate in Summer we want it to be a few things. Namely that's delicious (duh!!), light, refreshing and almost always fruity!! We don't know what it is but when Summer comes around we grab the fruity chocolate flavours. Perhaps it's because its because it means they are in-season but more often than its because they just match our tastes at them time. Ritter Sport are experts when it comes to Summer chocolate - they probably should be considering they've been doing limited editions for them for the last goodness knows how many years. Today we tried their all new Ritter Sport Strawberry Mint flavour.

Sorry but we aren't dishing out any prizes for guessing the weight of the chocolate this week - aren't we mean eh ;) You wont be surprised to hear this new Ritter Sport flavour slots nicely into the 100.0g range. As ever with the Summer limited edition flavours the packaging looks very cool - bright, clear and modern - check, check and check. Out the pack the chocolate smelt odd, but at the same time nice. We aren't sure at this stage whether mint and strawberry would work together.

Well our doubts didn't last all that long. It took only a matter of minutes for us to be persuaded it would do. The chocolate tasted great - everything from the outer portion to the inner filling was on point and met all the criteria we outlined int he above. The filling was this great combination of refreshing, fruity and light. It was insanely sweet and the strawberry flavours came through as juicy and real tasting. The mint element came through in the latter stages - adding a tingling cool sensation to the aftertaste and left a nice finish in the mouth. The chocolate of course was understated but tasty - Ritter Sport always seems to be best consumed in blocks of four!

Overall well done Ritter Sport for trying out a new flavour that was genuinely innovative yet still made sense. The combination of the mint and the strawberry was a good one. Both played their role in the end taste and were both complimentary of each other and added to the overall experience. Texture wise we could of done without the bitty - strawberry bits but lets be fair that's us being insanely picky. If you like your Summer chocs anything like the way we do go check this new Ritter Sport Strawberry Mint flavour out.
