You may imagine that all of us here in the @ChocMission team are overweight chocolate eating fiends buts actually the truth of it is that most of us like to keep in relatively good shape. Indeed most of aren't afraid to go hitting the gym every now and then, some of us even take it a little seriously and like to supplement our gym going with all sorts of nutrients and snack goods to help us stay strong and healthy. Luckily that doesn't make our writers totally useless for the site because nowadays you can buy all types of different gym snacks in chocolate flavours - today we tried out these Trek Cocoa Coconut Protein Flapjacks.

We came about these first when scanning the shelves in one our local healthy food stores - Holland & Barrett if that means anything to you guys reading this outside of the UK. Normally these Trek Protein Flapjacks can retail for anything as high as £2.00, though on this shopping occasion our writer managed to bag themselves a bargain getting this particular flavour for just £0.94. The wrapper looked pretty cool, with the light blue plastic material looking both high quality and good at keeping the bar in a good condition.

Opening up the wrapper the coconuts smells were the first to escape. They smelt fantastic and were followed up by more pleasurable scents of honey, butter and chocolate. Handling the flapjack the first thing we noticed was that it was quite oily and messy to touch. The oils from the coconut meant that it proved quite messy to eat, perhaps not advisable for consuming on the run. That slight annoyance aside the bar passed the taste test with flying colours. The aromas were highly indicative of the taste with the base flapjack strongly flavoured with coconut, butter, oats and honey. The upper portion of chocolate was nicely intense, not as sweet as you might expect but this was an nice contrast to the layers below which already made it quite a sweet experience anyway.

Overall this Trek Cocoa Coconut Protein Flapjack bar went down very well with the team and got a thumbs up across the board. With it packing over 9.0g of protein and tasting as good as it did, it has to be classified as a snack that packs both a punch and great taste. If you are a keen gym goer looking for a tasty snack to tide your sweet tooth between gym outings you should almost certainly be looking in the direction of these Trek Protein Flapjacks to see you right. Once again a big thumbs up from all on the @ChocMission team.
