The January diets may be over but that doesn't stop some of the @ChocMission team *the ladies* getting awfully excited about finding a new chocolate biscuit snack that contains less than 100 calories. The rest of us were more intrigued to see Nestle actually doing something new with one of their longest standing UK chocolate biscuit brands the Nestle Breakaway. Suffice to say although for different reasons it was with great pleasure today we got around to reviewing these all new Nestle Breakaway Chocolate Twist Shortbread.

We found these on sale in our local Sainsbury's supermarket where they were surprise surprise on a £1.00 introductory price offer. We've had a go recently at other products not standing out on shelf but these actually did. The yellow packing colour was still the same but the on-pack pictures clearly showed that this was no normal Nestle Breakaway - these were extra special as they had white chocolate on-top. To be honest the bars looked nice and we liked how they could be easily snapped into two chunks for easier consumption.

The bars came described as 'eight shortcake biscuits with milk and white chocolate'. As you can see from the pictures the milk chocolate layer was on the base of the biscuit with the white chocolate covering the top. To be honest expectations for these amongst the team were pretty low so we were delighted to find them vastly exceed them. Neither of the chocolates were anything particularly special, just sweet as sin sugary confections to be honest but combined with the buttery salted biscuit shortcake they kinda worked in their small amount. One biscuit was just about right for a mid afternoon pick-me-up - they left us with a certain feeling of content which is always a nice thing.

Overall whilst we wouldn't promote you should be going out your way to buy these Nestle Breakaway Chocolate Twist Shortbread they should be a least in your consideration if you are looking for a sweet and small chocolate biscuit snack. They are just about the right amount to curb a chocolate hankering, especially the type all of us get mid afternoon or any office environment :) Combined with a coffee or hot chocolate these are exactly the sort of thing to satisfy a sweet tooth. They aren't anything special but you wouldn't expect that for such a small price. Give them a try and let us know what you think @ChocMission.
