It is now time for one last look at Belfine’s Christmas collection before we all celebrate the big day. So far we have seen lollypops, long pops, finger puppets, and hollow figures, all of which have had beautiful artistic designs. Now we will look at something much more simplistic: a standard chocolate bar. But within simplicity there is charm. Belfine’s 35g Xmas Bar is segmented into four easily breakable squares, decorated with attractive 3D lettering and a jolly Santa face. Unlike the rest of their collection, the wrapper contains the chocolate’s nutritional information. Since it is more or less the same signature recipe, I think it safe to assume that this can be applied across the board.
Upon opening the wrapper you get a mild aroma of sweetened milk. The bar is ever so slightly sweeter than usual because there is a little more white chocolate in the design. This brings out a very welcome hint of vanilla. Although there is a tiny bit of dark chocolate, there is not an ounce of bitterness. I actually see this as a bit of negative as the dark chocolate seems to lack any definable flavour at all.
As expected, Belfine’s Xmas Bar provides a lovely smooth slow melt, and overall is a very enjoyable experience. My only complaint is that they cheated us out of several squares by not spelling Christmas properly.
