The amount of chocolate to price ratio was unveliebable here. Not only were the chocolates not great but they were pretty expensive in regards to the amount you got.

I would love for them to have made this from some of their award winning chocolates but it was nothing more than average which isn't what you expect from Thorntons.

I stick by my opinion on the price £2.99 is steap for 60.0g of average chocolate.

It isn't my favourite day either but I still think there is decent enough oppertunity for some high quality chocolate products. I got some more Hotel Chocolat products coming this week so look out for them ... they are just a little bit better ;)

That is the main problem I have with them at the moment. They are a brand that is severly lacking in identity! They need to get back to just making premium quality chocolates in my opinion.

This is a good point but the fact is you can get some far superior chocolate gifts for far less money nowadays.

That is a good point but think most people are quite correct with their thoughts. The majority of people think they look pretty cheap ... can the majority be wrong!? Of course they can ... but then again it is more likely that they speak sense.

They are a manufacture that produce a lot of good products aswell as a lot of bad ones. If only they could cut out the chaff and just produce the wheat eh!?

Wow, bummer! It's funny, I don't think these are tacky at all. As a stand-alone gift, I don't think they're very sophisticated or very refined, but they're damned cute and I like that they spell out the words. Harsh comments, peanut gallery! :P

I think Thorntons have gone terribly down market recently. It wasn't long ago I thought they were a really fancy brand but now they are as common as the average cadburys chocolate bar. The annoying thing is that the majority of their chocolates are still more expensive.

To be honest I think the whole idea behind these is tacky. Mind you, Valentines Day in general has always been quite tacky what with the fluffy pink hearts and teddy bears etc.
The only 'great' Valentines chocolate product I've seen so far is the Hotel Chocolat heart with the pink truffles in it. Unique but not tacky.

It is very odd that they have some of these amazing quality 'square' bar chocolate yet seem to rarely if ever use it on their chocs! If these had been made with some of their award winning chocolate they would have been a million times better.

I can see what you mean about the price, but I guess if it was given with several other things, not just by themselves, then I wouldn't have a problem with it being 'cheap'(except for the quality!)

I have no idea how, or why, Thorntons products vary so wildly in terms of quality. Surely it would make sense to standardise the chocolate recipes they use so they can create a recognisable and consistent "Thorntons taste". :\
