If I was given the choice of all the cakes you showed us from their xmas line up I think either this or the crumble one would be my choice. I fancy the crumble one because of the biscuit on the bottom but equally the chocolate layer on the top of this cake one looks wayyyy to yummy. Could they not have made a half and half one to make the choice easier lol.

I think I would need a lie down after eating a cake like this. The heavy cake and the amount of chocolate involved makes it look like it could an all time record for cakey richness.

It is a little shame they didn't go more Christmassy with their packaging but I understand it's an awful lot to ask such a small company to have to change for such a brief period. I'm more impressed by the fact that they continually make different cakes all the time. I think it's the way forward that they keep a core line of cakes that they always make and then they rotate a few different ones throughout the year depending on the season and holiday etc. In January they could do a lighter rice crispy cake for all the people on diets etc.

We made our own Christmas Cake this year. The cake bits nice but the marzipan we used is awful. It's just dry and sickly and makes it way too rich. I can only eat little cubes of it.

Much like you can rely on hotel chocolat for amazing chocolate it seems like we can rely on Heavenly Cakes to make a good fist of any cake they give a try.

Like some of the other guys have mentioned I would have been interested in seeing a Yule Log type thing from them.

@Katie/JHim lol it is traditional to eat Christmas cake with cheese (or any fruit cake for that matter, usually wensleydale cheese) it actually tastes really nice! You'll often find in cafes and coffee shops who offer fruiit cake, that they also offer it with a slice of cheese.

This cake looks lovely but the mincemeat again puts me off.. urgh lol

Hello All,

Thanks again for all the feedback today. I thought it would be a nice way to start off your week with some more Heavenly Cakes. This was the best out of all the cakes they sent me this Christmas.

Just to give you some idea how well this one went down in the JCM family household I can tell you my mother has already ordered some more (this time paying for them!). These were well liked by all that tried them.

LISA - I get a lot of very very rude SPAM coming through comments at the mo and it takes ages sifting through it all picking out all your relevant ones. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to be doing this so I ask you to use Twitter at the weekends. I hope this is ok.

MICHELLE - Good luck with the wedding.

RICK - 3 years. Yes I write all of the reviews you see.

HILARY - The cake was quite viscous for Christmas Cake. Like a cross breed between cake and pudding.

CHRIS - Champions league? Why I don't know what you are talking about chap :D

MARTIN - I believe last orders is the 19th.

ANDY - A JCM Application would be cool wouldn't it. Who knows it might happen one day.

KATIE - I've seen my mum eating it with cheese and grapes. It made my stomach turn haha :D

LUCY - The best until last is the only way to build up suspense. It wouldn't make any sense at all ending on a duff note. Not that it's really possible with cakes like these.

STU - I've forwarded that idea on to Heavenly Cakes. Good one.

GRAEME - I know what you mean about Royal Mail but I've not yet had an issue with damaged cakes from Heavenly. They always arrive in top condition.

YASMINE - Simple solution here! Get both :D

Its the small things like that which make their cakes so attractive. Imagine how boring they would look without them on there.

I can why people say Jim's reviews for Heavenly Cakes are 'biased' etc but on the other side I can also see why he is so positive about them.

THey seem a really nice company and they obviously make some extraordinary cakes. I've only ever bought some of their caramel shortbread but I can vouch for it being v nice.

I maintain that Heavenly Cakes are still too expensive though I think they can justify it a bit more with this one as it isn't anything you can find anywhere else. It's only when you can compare like 4 like with their shortbreads etc. That is when they start looking over expensive for what they are.

Great review hun. If it weren't for me disliking Christmas Cake I would be very in to this lol. The chocolate bit looks nice enough to buy it just for that :) They don't mess around when it comes to doing chocolate on things do they lol.
